2022 American League Central Division Champions

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
There is not a "plethora of middle infielders who are better with the bat". Owen is 25 and has been in the lineup inconsistently while playing a position that he shouldn't be because there was nobody else. There's been marked improvement in his 1B defense and judging him on the entire body of it is kind of a cheap shot really. He's a career minor league hitter of 305/368/450/818 and that wasn't that long ago. That being said, his future in Cleveland is uncertain to say the least. I don't know what happened to his power. He displayed it early and has always had more than someone like Freeman, but until recently it disappeared.
I think you're overvaluing what he did as a 24-year old minor leaguer.

Arias, Freeman, Rocchio, Tena and Angel Martinez all have developmental paths well ahead of Owen Miller's career trajectory.

Rocchio, Tena and Martinez are all 21 or younger. Owen was just entering A-ball at that age.

I don't think any of it is a cheap shot. He is what he is. But hey, let's go down your path and pretend everything I've said is bollocks. What do you think Owen Miller is, and where would you like to see him moving forward with this organization?

Owen definitely stunk this year at the plate, there’s no debating that.

He got regular playing time, and just never really did anything with it. He could very well turn out ok, but I’d rather look at some other options for his role next year. Those are the breaks.

He’s a low power guy, but doesn’t do a great job of avoiding strikeouts. Not a combination that projects well.

Let's look at some of Owen Miller's stats this year...
6th percentile in average exit velocity
10th percentile in hard hit %
21st percentile in xwOBA
48th percentile in xBA
14th percentile in xSLG
10th percentile in barrel %
16th percentile in chase rate
Had a 0.1 or 0.3 WAR this year depending on your site of choice

Fine, if you don't want to say he sucks... that's fine, then he's at least not good.

His ABs as a utility guy are the perfect ones to use to break in one of the plethora of infield prospects this team has.

Miller is fine to me but he's just not really good at the role he's in because he doesn't mash lefties and there's better guys for utility roles like Arias. He could potentially have some value to another team and I see him as certainly more valuable than Clement.

Miller I feel like majority of his issues are mental rather than physical. He has shown flashes, but hasn't been consistent...

That being stated, if you are going to be an utility guy, you either have to have a very good bat or very good defense and he hasn't shown either... I'm not saying he should be cut or anything like that, but he will have a tough time staying on this roster if he doesn't improve from the 22 season...

With the glut of upcoming infield talent Miller will have to improve quite a bit to keep his roster spot.

If I were a GM on a team short of infielders I would be watching Miller very closely. Could be a change of scenery of candidate and worth a trade.

Teams that needs a MIF prospect have been keeping an eye on us for awhile...

For the record, Braves announcers today:
- decried their bad positioning in the start time. “Unfair”
-lauded the Guardians style of play against the Rays

As I said all Sep, don’t expect more than the division. I’m thrilled we got to the ALDS. Would love to get one game. We won’t get three that I am sure of.

This team does not have the juice in the bats to hang a the Yanks

True. I think some people are expecting weak little contact hitters like Kwan to be able to match MVP giant-killers like Aaron Judge.

Those people need to get a reality check. There isn't a chance in hell that happens.
