Cleveland has 19 games vs sub .500 opponents as things stand right now.
Chicago has 19 games vs sub .500 opponents.
Minnesota has 22 games vs sub .500 opponents.

Cleveland's best opponent remaining is San Diego for 2 games.
Chicago still has to play Houston and San Diego 7 times.
Minnesota still has to play Houston and the Yankees 7 times.

Cleveland faces Chicago and Minnesota 14 more times.
Chicago faces Cleveland and Minnesota 15 more times.
Minnesota faces Cleveland and Chicago 17 more times.

Schedule is certainly leaning Cleveland's favor. Almost 20% of Chicago and Minnesota's remaining schedule is playing against each other, 9 games still to be played between the 2. Cleveland will gladly sit back and root for a 5-4 split in those 9 games.

But the 8 games remaining between Cleveland and Minnesota mean more than the rest of the schedule for each team.
What does this have to do with Myles Straw?

have we been starting the first game of our doubleheaders at 3p? was looking for a 1p start today

Meh, Fangraphs Strength of Schedule has .491 for Guards, .485 for Chicago, .496 for Twins. Wouldn't say the schedules factor in much at all, so much is dependent on who wins the head-to-heads. Starting with a 2.5 game buffer obviously tilts things in the right direction.

Fangraphs ain't right then.

Cleveland: .480
Chicago: .485
Minnesota: .495

But yes. 14 remaining games vs the Twins and Sox make or break the season.

Haven't seen the official tweet but roster moves today Curry for Jewell and

08/15/22Cleveland Guardians designated RHP Jake Jewell for assignment.
08/15/22Cleveland Guardians activated RHP James Karinchak from the restricted list.
08/15/22Cleveland Guardians selected the contract of RHP Xzavion Curry from Columbus Clippers.
08/15/22RHP Peyton Battenfield returned to Columbus Clippers from Cleveland Guardians.

In addition to the strength of opponent you have to look at home and away.

Cleveland: 30 home, 18 away
Chicago: 24 home, 23 away
Minnesota: 25 home, 24 away

Also injuries will be a factor. Tim Anderson is out for several weeks. For the Twins, Paddack, Stashak, Coulombe, Sano, Jeffers, Dobnak, and Kiriloff are all out. The Guardians only have one injury; Anthony Gose.

Training staff should get bonuses and some. This has been a remarkable season considering health. Whatever they're doing, keep doing.

From The Athletic:

The Mets are 9-1 over their last 10 games and their starting rotation is simply unfair. Max Scherzer (1.36), Jacob deGrom (1.62), Carlos Carrasco (1.69) and Chris Bassitt (1.79) all boast ERAs under two since July 1. Meanwhile, the Yankees are 2-8 over their last 10 and scored just five runs across their three-game set in Boston.
Happy for Carlos

If the Guardians make the WS, against the Mets, how fucking loud is the cheering for Cookie going to be when he takes the mound against us?

It doesn't matter that he's the opponent on the biggest stage, the crowd will always erupt for him.

Now Frankie on the other hand...

Wouldn't mind a Frankie chant.

KinderGuardians are young and supple, a benefit of being so young. Staffwise, they wisely restricted velocities to save arms and have reaped the benefits.
