Purposefully losing games before going into the playoffs sounds like a good way to come out flat and lose in the playoffs. Especially the MLB playoffs when you want to be playing well heading into them.
True. But, no doubt teams do it.

Friendly reminders when saying “team A worked team B” in the regular season, w/r to postseason matchups.

2016 Indians

vs Boston: 2-4 in the regular season (swept them in playoffs)

2017 Indians

vs Yankees: 5-2 in the regular season (lost series 3-2)

2018 Indians

vs Houston: 3-4 in the regular season (swept by them in the playoffs)

There are numerous more examples of this all over baseball history, but regular season success against a team ≠ postseason success against a team.

I dont think anyone is talking about intentionally losing games. This is just a conversation about who you prefer to play. I dont want the Gs to face the Ms because the Gs got their asses handed to them by the Ms, just 5 weeks ago. Thats the basis of the conversation.

Yes i agree that regular season outcomes dont always align with post season outcomes. thats why they play the games.

Somebody actually was/is. That’s how the convo started.

You are right all 3 games are in Cleveland, for some reason i was thinking game 1 was in Seattle. Either way I want nothing to do with the Ms you can say that regular season and post season have nothing to do with each other (And i wouldnt neccassarily disagree), but I can tell you that the Gs got absolutely smacked by Seattle this year, and I want nothign to do with them for that reason.
Here is what I can’t stand. You play 162 games and first round is best out of three. Should be at least best out of 5
Better yet go 154 games and play all best out of 7’s

It's better than it was... Just a one game...

I liked it better when the wildcard round was a single game. Made it more rewarding for winning your division.

I was very against playoff expansion, but I guess there’s no way they go back now.

I am okay with the 6 teams... If baseball ever expands to 32 teams, this would be a better format since 4 divisions of 4 and 2 Wild card teams.

I don't want it expanded anymore though. 7-8 teams is way too much...

Playoffs start a week later this year because of the late start.
OGonz might get a new nickname - "Mr. November"

I heard an interview with Dave Sims, Seattle announcer , this morning. He said the Mariners
will go all out to win their last few regular season games so they can try to get home field
advantage in the WC round. He said the M's believe they have a huge home field
advantage . He said they probably could have sold 100K tickets to their playoff
clinching game.

Also- JRod is expected back in the lineup today.

Oscar just has that feel of someone who will do something special in playoffs. Kwan also feels like a guy who will perform really well in October.

I suppose if it means getting home field advantage you absolutely try and get the high seed. The bottom two can move as they wish.
