Do Not Sell My Personal Information
...hmm...

...you can't realize what you are unaware of.. perhaps a little lighter touch here would be in order...

..btw.. it doesn't change what the kid is going through.. just the evaluation of those who don't know..

This is all known information to the public with Frazier opening up about it after being DFA'd. The Zimmer stuff has been known since spring of 2019.

If Cats is unaware it's because he didn't bother to go find it.

I'm with @Gson here. The extent to which it affected their results is something that is difficult to gauge. They could've had the injuries, been not materially affected by them, and then struggled. Sort of like Jose with the finger injury which we have also caught a lot of flak for.

Go read their injuries and what it did to them again.

Keep in mind both are still, to this day, experiencing lingering effects from those injuries as well. Shit, Frazier almost retired at 25 because of his.

Concussions are EXTREMELY hard to gauge.

I recall Justin Morneau's slide into 2nd that really short circuited his career. Didn't look all that severe... He ultimately rebounded somewhat but never quite the same.. One has to wonder.

I'm not a sports injury expert so simply reading about their injuries doesn't say much particularly in the case of Zimmer (or Jose's finger). You know stuff about him gripping the bat years later, stuff that I had absolutely zero clue about. Frazier, you can probably connect the dots well enough from the outside, sure.

I knew about the problems with Zimmer gripping a bat back in 2018 and some of the post surgery complications he dealt with a little before that.

But him and Tito both said it to the public in 2019 during Spring Training. And again in 2020 when the season was restarted.

And that’s on top of tearing a labrum, which is frequently a kiss of death injury for any baseball player, not just pitchers.

Both of them got robbed due to the one thing you can never predict; health.

I had a hand injury so I 100% get how Zimmer feels. I will never have complete use of my right index finger again

One might think that credo should apply the those consistently attacking athletes as failures and denigrating them, but alas...

We choose only to hold some people to standards.
It may be a bit charitable but IMO what we see here is someone making hypotheses and then overconfidently making arguments that are weaker than they appear on the surface. There's no ill will.

We are in a pro sports forum, lol. If we ONLY want the people with insider knowledge to be throwing out ideas and speculation, then where's the fun? I'd rather just wait for Guardians official press releases then and I love my Bimbo leaks too. After all things often aren't as they appear on the surface and some reality checks are great.

That's a very polite way of saying someone's being a smug cock.

When someone opens up with "Uh, lets see now....hmm." that's not on good footing--but to follow it up with awful arguments, we should expect that person's post to get pushback.

It's natural. You post bad takes, it gets pushback. If bad takes stand unchallenged, then we assume that they're valid. After all, if they weren't valid, someone would have pointed that out--right?

I don't get the leap you make to silencing. Nobody is saying we don't want people throwing out ideas and speculating. It feels like you're making leaps that aren't there in order to make your argument sound better.

Nobody is saying you have to be an insider to post ideas or to debate opinions.

It’s the wild speculation about player personalities and their work ethic, and other things of that nature that I’d like to see stop.

Without insider information, we couldn’t possibly know that kind of stuff. For example, when I would see people calling Franmil lazy and a bad teammate. That was the kind of gross speculation that I’d like to see less of.

I didn't use the word silencing, but I guess you could think of it as social pressure silencing, similar to cancel culture. If you create an environment in which people are unwelcome to post their hot takes confidently for fear of being wrong it will be a lot less fun IMO. One person posts something that has something wrong with it, and then the swarm comes in.

Likewise I love when inside info is brought into the discussion to clear up misconceptions.

I've had my disagreements with CATS44 as well but he seems to learn from his mistakes well enough.

I know you didn't use the word, but when you talk about the absence of posts, it's a pretty reasonable leap.

There are tons of bad takes that don't get the same pushback that you saw with this take. What difference could there be for that?

I'm all in favor of using negative reinforcement when it's called for. Using derision to preface a confidently incorrect post is one such example.

Hot take... Call should have been kept! Lol

Sincerely though we need to have varying opinions and whatnot on here as we do our best to respect each other, all is golden!
