Well Scott found some trouble in the 4th... Also OGonz is still hitting the ball well...

Cantillo isn't having a good day in Akron...

Nothing going on yet with LC and Lynchburg had the postponement today..

@CDAV45

Sandy Leon allowed a pass ball in the Columbus game that allowed Lavastida to score...

To give up 4 hits including a homer along with 5 walks in 2.1 and only allow 5R (all earned) is mildly impressive. Let's hope Cantillo rebounds for his next game.

I have no knowledge of his defensive.. Is he a good defensive CFer?

I haven't seen him play enough, stats say, average range in CF, but he was also a pitcher at one point so he has a plus arm so defensively he should be able to anywhere since he has solid speed. I would compare him to Straw, but less speed and range in CF but a stronger arm. Contact based approach, but is said his hard contact% may hold him back a bit. Makes him a 4th OF... That's kind of the scouting report I see on him. His numbers at AA so far say floor is a 4th OF/AAAA OF...

At Columbus...

Pilk had a bad night, bullpen has been solid.. Johnson has had a good night as well... Tolman and Ike Freeman had two base hits...

Akron...

Allen had a nice night, but outside of Brennan's HR and Marcos Gonzalez's 3 hits the rest of the group has one hit...

Lynchburg...

Well one game, no need to mention it... Otherwise Dayan Frias has been doing a good job hitting and getting on base...

Here is the info from GBI.....

Will Brennan 2022 scouting report and grades

Build & Background

As a former two-way player in college, Brennan has a strong physique and work ethic to handle a rigorous training/playing program. He doesn’t have any serious room for physical growth/projection, but he’s maxed out, lean and strong in his upper half.

What Brennan does well

Getting on-base is one of, if not the best skill Brennan has. He’s tough to strike out, draws enough walks and has a solid swing. He also got hit by 10 pitches in 2021, which might be a skill. He makes plenty of contact but has a good eye at the plate. Defensively, Brennan has plenty of assets. He was a pitcher in college who tossed up to 93, so he has the arm strength necessary to play right field, but also has enough speed and instincts to play center. He’s also a savvy base runner despite mostly average speed.

Where Brennan needs to improve

The amount of contact Brennan makes helps him avoid strikeouts, but impacting the ball with all that contact is something he needs to improve. He doesn’t pack a lot of punch or velocity in a lot of his contact, so there’s not much to project on power wise, which limits his overall projection. He gets the most out of his speed in the field and on the bases, but overall it grades out as average.

Intangibles

Two-way players have to work harder to play at a high level in college, and Brennan did both. Work ethic and makeup are a plus for Brennan in those regards. It also means he’s athletic, and being a good athlete is never a bad thing. He also worked on adding more effort to use his hips in his load last year, so he shows the ability to make adjustments and takes to coaching.

Future

Without projectable power, Brennan’s future remains a little limited. He’s got definite major league skills. He can handle all three outfield spots defensively just fine. He runs well, he puts up a good at bat, doesn’t strike out and gets on base. The lack of contact quality probably relegates him to a fourth or fifth outfield type on someone’s bench. He’s got the strong side of the platoon on his side, so there’s a good chance he can make all this work at the big league level in this role.

Role: Major league bench outfielder
