2022 Minor League Week 08 Games Thread (5/23-5/29/22)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Not a good night .... hopefully minor for both
[

Edit: watching the video it looked like it got Williams in the lower hand/wrist area where he didn't really have much glove protection. That smarts to be hit there, hopefully there isn't any fractures in there....

Valera definitely rolled his ankle, and since he was able to play on afterwards tells me it's not super serious, but don't be surprised to see him hit the 7 day DL done there to get it rest.

That was Valera that got hurt, Twitter had the wrong player…..
Valera went out for the next inning in the field.. but was removed shortly thereafter. The initial word was that it was precautionary & he could have continued.. but, why push it?.

We'll see..

Potentially good news on the Valera front as well...
(via GBI Akron reporter)
Akron manager Rouglas Odor told me that Valera wanted to continue but was taken out for precautionary reasons, taking into account the slippery conditions of his spot in right field from the rain

Looks like they'll hold him out the rest of the weekend:

Williams has K'd 41% of the batters he has faced.

Only 24% of batters who have faced him have reached base.

Those are video game numbers.

But Espino has been even better.

He has K'd 51% of the batters he has faced.

19% of runners he has faced have reached base.

******

These two have been so overwhelming at their respective levels that after they get some more IP under their belts, they have to move up. Even though they need to work on developing various pitches, there has to be some competition to develop against.

A good bounce-back night for the CLE affiliates as they go 4-1 with a run diff of +5.
This makes the group 13-7 on the week with a run diff of +30

I heard there was a bench-clearing incident on Saturday in Akron.... Can anyone explain what happened including what started the issue & why it got to the point of bench-clearing??

Why does Arias-Bautista continue to take starts from an otherwise loaded set of starters that already includes Logan Allen Jr., Curry, Gaddis, Cantillo, and will soon included EspinGOAT and could include WilliamsGOAT and BibeeGOAT injuries notwithstanding? Ship this guy out of town or at least to the bullpen.

TIA.

He's pitched at three levels and made four starts...three in Akron as the fill in for Espino. I dont see how he's taking innings away from anybody. If Espino had remained healthy, he probably wouldn't have gotten those three starts.

Well the week for the CLE affiliates ended on a sour note as every level lost today. 0-4 record with -19 run diff.
For the week the affiliates went 13-11 with a +11 run diff..

---------------------------------------------------------------
As a scheduling note only the AAA Columbus Clippers play on Memorial Day Monday 5/30. Their opponent Toledo will arrive for a Memorial day game and the teams will take off on Tuesday as a result..

The new weekly games thread will be posted on Monday morning...
