This is irreplaceable.

Great clip. People on this board don’t always go along with his decisions during games, but there is one thing we can agree on: JBB was able to fire up his young troops to defend hard. In the first half last season, the Cavs’ defense was the second-best in the league at one point, only behind Golden State. Then the injuries piled up and they started to slip, but their defense still finished fifth overall. The defense will be the key again in the coming season. And if they improve on the offense and stay healthy, then look out.

Just a random discussion I had the other day with someone. Just based on numbers alone... Just comparing eras and how someone figured out it's better to shoot 40 - 3 pointers a game, over anything less than 50% for 2. And then you think about those shooting closer to 40% at 3, you have to average over 60% at 2 to be equivalent.

Now when you look at the league, most of the 40% ish 3 shooters are guards and the only ones, other than Lebron and Giannis shooting 60% or close is PF and Centers.

It sort of made me chuckle because, that's almost the line up the Cavs go with. Especially if you can ramp up the 2 guard to shoot 3s better (Agbaji? Sexton?) . So in some ways, putting 3 7 footers out there who shoot close to 60% from 2, is like having 3 x 40% 3 pointer shooters on the floor. Of course, we aren't there yet, but not hard to imagine Mobley and Markenon being close to 60% at 2, especially when Jarrett is savant at like 68% from 2 (like averaging 45% from 3).

Sorry, random musing for a Sunday, but maybe that's why the guard /Center lineup kind of works.

he pretty much alludes to what you are saying here

Joe Vardon of The Athletic on LeBron's options, including a return to Cleveland. Does he want to win a 6th Championship, even if it means spending the season mostly away from his family next year, or is playing a season or two with Bronny the last goal of his career?

I think he should be more concerned about winning a 5th championship first.

The Cavs are not proceeding with the intention of getting LeBron [James] for a third time," per Joe Vardon of The Athletic.

The only rumors of LeBron leaving the Lakers are to play with his son Bronny. While a reunion with Cleveland to finish his career sounds like the perfect storybook ending, the team isn't planning for that to happen. They have a promising young core that would've made the playoffs last season if not for poor injury luck down the stretch. Led by Darius Garland, Jarrett Allen, and Evan Mobley, the Cavs have a nice cornerstone trio to build around. Just waiting on LeBron to return and save them again isn't what they're going to do.

This is great to hear. I love what we have cooking and while it would be nice to have LeBron join as a cheap vet FA, I dont want us to make our game plan around him.

Sure seems like a load of fluff. What else are they going to say?

I'm in the hardcore no more LBJ camp (I'm the guy whipping that traitor @Man Called X in the honey pit) but this reads like a non-denial denial. Obviously, if they leaked that they were proceeding with that intention, that's tampering. And saying that they're not proceeding with the "intention" of pursuing LBJ isn't the same as saying they already have decided they won't sign him no matter what.

Strategic ambiguity.

I'm only accepting of it because it's felt inevitable since he went to LA and I've been calling it for years.

I'm not happy about it, but it is what it is at this point.
