2022 Post-Season | Division Series | Yankees vs. Guardians | Oct. 11 - ?, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Oscar pimped the absolute shit out of his home run too.

All the kids are doing it.

Look, a lot of people get excited about their accomplishments. Not doing SOMETHING to show your excitement is just holding the excitement back. This is a generation of people who don’t do that.

Good for them too, right?

Pretty sure it was Darling during one of these playoff games that said nobody will talk more in the dugout than a guy that just hit a home run. That’s because the dude is excited. These guys are expressing their excitement on the field instead of waiting until they get into the dugout. Are they showing the other guys up? Yeah, sometimes. But you can see them mostly yelling to their buddies and having fun.

Kid’s game.

Lol good grief, might as well hang a sign in your yard that says get off my lawn. Must have missed the numerous times the Yankees pimped homers. Naylor's quote after the game re: his reception in Yankee stadium, "That was so sick. That was honestly like a dream come true as a kid; playing in an environment like this where they've got diehard fans, it's cool ... The fact I got that going thru the whole stadium, that was sick." And this is why Naylor is a cool dude. He talked shit, fell short, and got it right back and took it with a smile on his face and didn’t complain. He loves to have fun. You're taking this way too seriously. Stop yelling at clouds about nothing.
Guys yelling at the clouds over there.

Did you guys see Naylor’s comments about the Yankee crowd heckling him? He said it was a dream come true. That’s why I don’t have an issue with his antics.

It makes for a fun back and forth, which is what this is all about. Competition and fun!

Like many red-blooded American sports fans, I love to hate the Yankees. The showboating just makes it even more fun.

Pumped for next season; their games are going to be must watch TV and I wouldn’t be surprised if at least a couple of them end up on prime time.

Does the showboating have any effect on the outcome of the game? Nope. Would we even discuss it had we won Game 5? Nope. Surprised it's gotten this much attention.

Just wait till Espino and Williams start their first playoff games ya'll. Gonna be a fun winter.

It's not "yelling at clouds about nothing", and how does hanging a sign in my yard saying "get off my lawn" pertain to this in the slightest? Say something that makes some fucking sense. I have no issues, and never had with celebrating, but taunting and looking like a fucking moron is another story. I don't like it. I never have and as an athlete I never felt the need to mock a pitcher after hitting one out. Run around the bases, pump your fists, shoot a 3 after rounding 2nd base, point to the guys in the BP, go apeshit after reaching homeplate and the dugout with your teammates, headbutt your manager. There are a bazillion ways to celebrate. What Naylor did was beyond that and he looked fucking stupid doing it. That doesn't mean I don't like Josh either so don't even try to go down that road. His behavior in that moment was inappropriate to me and it wouldn't surprise me to see him not do that again. Why incentivize the other team and their crowd? What's to be gained from it?

You act as if what Naylor did was the reason why the Yankees won and that’s completely absurd. There’s a reason why you’re in the minority on this.

Why would you think they're going to cut Maile? Hedges is the FA, more expensive, and defensively regressed. I've said all along I expect them to agree with Maile in arbitration.
I don't think we will calculate the opportunity cost of keeping Maile is worth leaving another guy unprotected / DFA'd. If we weren't in the 40 man situation we were in, this wouldn't be an issue, but that's where we're at now. The way he was treated down the stretch also just doesn't make him look like someone viewed as part of the team's future.

I would love to keep Maile but 1 cheap year of a backup catcher probably just doesn't beat out freeing up the slot.

I'm sorry, I think I'm failing to understand you. Are you suggesting the sign Hedges to a minor league deal? If not then how is it different if Maile and the Guardians agree to a price in arbitration or giving Hedges a major league contract? As it stands, Maile will likely get paid significantly less than Hedges.

Didn't realize I was in the minority as plenty have expressed their disdain for the action. Regardless, it wouldn't change my opinion on the matter if I were alone. I saw what happened and the result of it. I find it laughable that he thinks it was "awesome" and his reaction was predictable. He had nowhere else to go with it.

At no point in time did I suggest that's the reason the Yankees won the series. I have no idea where you pulled that out of. I only expressed that it energized them and was inappropriate. While I agree that it had little to nothing to do with the outcome, there were no benefits to be had from it either.

I appreciate how this organization goes about its business about as much as I appreciate their success. Displays such as Josh's is not a good representation of this organization's character IMO. You may like it and want to see more of it. You know what they say about opinions.

I will say that was the most obnoxious HR by Naylor I ever seen, that's not something to do if you can't follow up with another one. Simply put he's not that good to showboat like that. But it did spark the Yankees obviously.

I'm saying they will sign Hedges to a major league contract, and if for whatever reason that can't happen they might go back to Maile after DFAing him.

It's different because it gives us time to spin off a trade to free up a slot or two after R5, which would then be used to add the catcher and hopefully a RH 1B as well.
