2022 Season | Series #50 | Royals @ Guardians | Sep. 30 - Oct. 4, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The only reason I would want Bo Naylor, you could potentially PH the Catcher 2 times after the 6 inning if we needed a crucial bat for that moment……

I do not know how it works but from what I know, we are only allowed 1 replacement off 40-man roster on August 1 for Gose going out on DL on August 1 (day after July 31 trade deadline). Supposedly, that Gose injury spot can be replaced by Brennan who also wasn't on the 40 man on August 1 and guess Hammy said that is done deal (with league/commissioner application/approval/rubber stamp). However, I don't know if there is another way, other than another injury, to get someone on board who was off 40man on August 1 like Bo.

Not sure how much it matters, but Bo Naylor could be seen as a potential pinch runner as well..

If he doesn't get his first hit, do you really roster him? 5 K in 6 PA and his swing looked as "grooved" as Longenhagen mentions in his scouting report. He struggles to make contact high in the zone. Swing plane is uppercut through the middle, little bat control to change path. It's a problem. I guess a 20 HR mistake masher hitting 200 with 10+ steals and decent defense is still good at C, but if his name wasn't Naylor, I'd include him in a trade for Murphy tbh

Who says he even gets at bats in the playoffs? A third catcher allows you to get more creative with your pinch hitting.

Not sure I would roster him.. But if they are thinking about it, that might be another piece (pinch running) they're considering.

So you want him to catch Clase for the first time up a run in game 3 vs TB?

Not sure that outlook is much better.

Look, we haven't needed a 3rd C in forever. You take the minimal risk for a couple of innings. Give me Freeman or Palacios at the dish over amped up Bo Naylor. He's clearly not ready, and it's not a problem, he's 22yo. Next year is his season to get comfortable

Who says he’d be in for that situation? Or that it’d be the first time he catches Clase?

All signs point to Naylor being a part of our initial postseason roster. I’m just speculating on the best way to use him.
