2022 Season | Series #50 | Royals @ Guardians | Sep. 30 - Oct. 4, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
With Straw established in center and Kwan in left, the question is how many RFs can this org keep on the 40 man roster.

Right now...

OGonz
Brennan
Benson
Jones
Valera
Noel

For next year, we don't have to sort anything out with Valera and Noel. They start 2023 in the minors.

Kwan should 100% be playing 154-158 games next year and batting lead off.

So what there is to sort out next year is 324 games between 5 guys; Straw, OGonz, Brennan, Benson, and Jones

Personally, I'd include Jones in a trade package and start the season letting the other guys accumulate games in CF, RF, DH(when Naylor is at 1B) and 1B(when Naylor is DH'ing). As the season goes on, trends develop, injuries happen, trade oppoortnies arise, you adjust accordingly. Benson probably receives the least at bats but at this point, I think those at bats and being on the big league squad are more valuable to the team and to him then being back in the minors. He is also a great late game pinch runner option.

In 2024 is when you need to sort out where Valera(and possibly Noel's) at bats come for.

I think the question was about the 40 man though. You could keep those guys in the minors but we still have a difficult situation. Jones and Benson IMO have the least chance of adding to the big league success outside of maybe Noel but you also don't want to let someone pick them up for free as I think there is still some significant potential there (I'm actually bigger on Benson for our team). OGonz and Noel kind of have to stay in the system because they fit a niche.

This KC lineup is going to be annoying for years to come. Their pitching, not so much although they've tried to load up the system...
KS I was thinking that by the 24 season that these will easily be the best 2 teams in the Central. Obviously the Guardians are the best team already so I'm speaking more to KC appears to be headed in the right direction.

I sure as hell didn't have them winning 90 games at the start of the season and I've never been happier to be wrong. Congrats to all in the organization because it certainly has been an organizational effort.

Will Brennan appears to be who I thought he was and there is more power coming. If you told me that I would have to trade one of Brennan or Valera right now I'd choose Valera. I said it before and I still believe that Brennan is/will be a 20/20 player with very good OF defense(including CF). So if Valera continues on his trajectory Straw is going to be ran out of town. That's not necessarily a knock on Myles and more of a compliment on the young talent. Let's be honest here, Myles Straw is a similar player to long time Rays CFer Kevin Kiermaier. Certainly a good player whose value is mostly derived from his defense and baserunning. Brennan provides that to a lesser degree, but has a vastly superior hitting ability. Will Brennan should be our long term CFer IMO.

I have no worries about Bo. He just needs to get past the angst of his first ML hit and HR. From there he'll probably take off. I'm super excited about him.

Arias appears to be making a concerted effort to show more plate discipline. If he can get better at not chasing pitches then he could be a beast. I think I really like him in the utility role if he gets consistent AB and Rocchio can take over SS duties effectively.

I wonder what the future holds for all of Miller, Freeman, Benson and Rosario? Rosario has already established himself as a pretty good ML player. I think both Miller and Freeman are going to carve out very nice ML careers. I am wondering what in the hell happened to Miller's power? Is it due to lack of consistent playing time and learning a new position? He's a good hitter and always has been. It wouldn't shock me to see him hit .280-.300 next season, but I still don't see him as a 1B.

I love Josh Naylor, but I hope he takes his physical conditioning seriously this offseason. I want to blame it on his injury, but he was a little "pudgy" before it happened. Dude can hit and provide this team with good power.

OGon is showing that the ability to put the bat on the ball is valuable at the highest level even if your OBP isn't great for whatever reason(s). It wouldn't shock me if he hits 30+ HR in 23.

Bieber with another good outing and you have to wonder if he isn't contemplating accepting a reasonable offer from Cleveland. The writing is on the wall that this team is going to be a powerhouse for the next several yrs and he may want to be a part of that even if it means taking a lesser offer than he would get in FA.

Have I mentioned how excited I am about this team? I couldn't be more impressed with what they've done as an organization.

... hmm....

the ball jumps off of Willie Baseball's bat.. that triple was smoked.. got by the RF'er like he as a statue.. Brennan didn't pause getting out of the box and turned on the jets to get to third...well in front of the throw.. The home run was just like the triple..but elevated.. to quote Manning.. it was a beautiful thing..

Nice spank by Josh Naylor..

Arias over throw of 3B for the error was a rookie mistake... he won't do that again.. the next two chances he had were highlight reel stuff.. His swing is very balanced.. There is no doubt, imho, that he's going to hit..

Same thing with Josh's little Bo.. nice set up.. nice swing.. until he gets 2 strikes..then he tries to hard.. Pressing too much too early is the thing.. he'll need some time..

No one can swing a bat being so out of balance and make such hard contact as OGonz.. the guy is amazing..

Smooth Sam looked a bit upset with a few calls on pitches that were close.. particularly an up in the zone curve ball that would have been a strike.. I and every other person has to be thrilled the playoff umpires are going to be taking over in a week..

It was a cooler day at the park than it looked..but, not bad.. Enjoyed game # 11 for us..

More and More look like it will be the Rays next Friday, look like it will be Kluber be interesting who the Ray’s pitch tomorrow as they will be more likely starting game 2 Next Saturday…….

Even know I didn’t publicly post anything negative about Brennan translating his minor league success up here to the majors, I would have been dead wrong, I watch about 30 or so of his AB in the minors and was underwhelmed, ……..Can’t believe we got 3 solid good looking prospects and Kwan, Oscar, and now maybe Brennan, with a slew yet to breakthrough, just this year,
