2022 Season - Week #2 - Jets @ Browns - 9/18 1pm CBS

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This is a scheme problem no?

Browns pass D has been really bad. Even when the Jets get behind the sticks, a nice 15 yard pass seems to follow.

This is the problem. We have the talent to just match up and cover guys. Woods overthinks everything to the point where nobody knows who to cover, and it gets beat over and over and over again.
Right.

I can see if we were facing prime Brady with Megatron and Moss. We're facing Flacco here. Let our talented corners play more man against Corey Davis or Garrett Wilson. Especially on a crucial 3rd down.

Why?

Denzel Ward blew that. The flat was his responsibility and he didn't even see Breece Hall out there wide open.

Players have to execute on the field, especially when they're making 20 million and are one of the most talented players in the league at their position.
When your pro bowl defensive back doesn't know where to be and who he's covering, there is a serious and fundamental failure to communicate from the coaches. Especially when this has happened multiple times on multiple weeks.

Unless you're saying all our defensive backs are just stupid?

Overcomplicated zone schemes.

Lucky to be tied.

Ding ding ding ding.

There's plenty of talented players here, but clearly what Woods is asking them to do in terms of passing off routes is too complex for some of these guys.

Simplify it immediately or get out of town.

Woods has always been a scheme over talent guy. No matter who he has at corner he’s going to run his scheme. I’ve never understood these coaches. It never ends well for this type of mentality.

Sure looked like 3 guys rushing and 8 guys standing around in the end zone... scheme AND execution have to break down for that to happen.

Yeah, you can't fucking have this. If it's not JOK on one play, it's Newsome on another. Or Delpit. Or JJ3.

Simplify this shit on those critical downs. I'd rather someone beat Ward in one on one coverage than this.

It's frustrating because the offense is doing their damn job with a bottom tier starter at QB and the one part of the team we really need to be able to rely on is consistently blowing assignments.
