2023-24 Season | Game #54 | Magic @ Cavs | Feb. 22, 2024 | 7:00 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It looked better with CPJ and even without a PG on the floor there was more pace albeit it wasn’t really successful due to turnovers and some poor shooting by LeVert; DG stepped up in the second half when he pushed the ball on a few fast breaks and got some nice assists. However, all of that occurred when Suggs got injured who had completely stifled DG . Even without Suggs, Anthony Black gave DG trouble.
You are talking out of your ass. Garland had 10 assists and 4 turnovers (2 of which were offset by steals Garland made). Compare that with the assist to turnover ratio for everyone else. He was one of 3 players with a positive +/- in tonight's game.

CPJ was -5, had zero assists, and 2 points. LeVert was -10, had 6 points on 2/10 shooting with 2 assists and 2 turnovers. Merrill had 4 assists but ended up -10 on the night because the Magic were in his shirt whenever he was behind the 3 point line and he's obviously limited defensively.

LeVert was 2-for-10 in 27 minutes. With Donovan out we needed a solid game from him, something like 5-for-10.

Merrill was a -10 in 12 minutes. Part of that was playing with LeVert and Niang, but teams are figuring out that they can't give him open looks from deep and he's struggling to get his shots off. When he does it looks like he's rushing them. Our bench, which is supposedly a team strength, got completely trashed tonight.

Okoro had an excellent game and if he continues to play like this offensively he will be a big factor. He hit his corner 3's and took it strong to the rim when he had a crease.

Cavs are hard to root 4. Soft ass Daugherty and Price to diva LeBron then back to soft again

They have the 5th best record in the league and are the 2 seed in the East. They won 51 games last year...
My point was: very few people are rooting for this team to lose, or look shitty. Almost everyone here would prefer to see the Cavs play well.

That said, I think many here agree with @ice cream man - the team is going to have to disappoint, to force management’s hand. This team will not take the next step, with JBB and Garland, but management is not going to come to that realization on its own. I would love for us to be wrong about that. But I don’t think we are.

The CPJ hype is out of control. I think you could put a poll up on him vs Garland and he’d get a significant percentage.

Bench got trashed tonight.

a good example of the "worst case scenario" with this team. lackadaisical defense early, turnovers, poor shooting, over-reliance on players whose defense I don't trust. at this point, I DO trust the 2 big lineups against teams like this.

I liked the Merrill sub for LeVert in theory, but it was too late (and as said above, it wasn't fruitful). Niang getting way too much rope, he is the new Cedi without the "doghouse".

Fuck the Schweinhund (Wagner) Bros and Scott Foster. At least "Ponytail" Moyer-Gleich called the correct offensive foul, but right after was a weak ass "foul" from DG on cheating-ass Anthony Black. The "physicality" narrative that always comes out from the LeBron-pilled [people with whom I vehemently disagree] would evaporate with proper officiating in these scenarios. That is why that win against the Clippers with Foster in crew was a HUGE one for me.

But a message for those who want to trade DG right now: Please walk [into a library, open a book] and [educate] yourself ASAP. And STFU.

Cavs need another "Dean Wade". Hopefully one day Pete Nance will be.

Different game with Donovan Mitchell available. Hopefully he will be against Philly.

JBB: Relegate Niang to the Tristan tier and let Dean cook.

Didn't we already do this without Mitchell right before Darius broke his jaw? Can't remember who it was against but the ball moved beautifully with DG running the show, and then someone with a blue name on here, either @Wham with the Right Hand or @RchfldCavRaised completely bought into DG being able to run this team again.

I'm gonna give DG some grace here. He still hasn't been back with the team for all that long, no Mitchell, and first game since the AS break.

And can we just give the Magic some credit, too? Suggs and Black are really good defenders.

100% and can we add the DG hate train? DG was not responsible for Wagner getting 22 off the bench in 25 minutes and old man Ingles...

The other issue is Orlando adjusted their coverage on Merrill and weren’t letting him breathe.

The #1 issue for me is nobody gives DM proper respect. He’s not the MVZ conversation but he’s altered his game to be team oriented and the 18-2 run was under his floor leadership.
