2023-24 Season | Game #54 | Magic @ Cavs | Feb. 22, 2024 | 7:00 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I can't handle another 2.5 years of Niang. It's so bad. So so bad.

-20 in 16 minutes. Looks like one of the worst defenders in the league most nights.

Didn't we already do this without Mitchell right before Darius broke his jaw? Can't remember who it was against but the ball moved beautifully with DG running the show, and then someone with a blue name on here, either @Wham with the Right Hand or @RchfldCavRaised completely bought into DG being able to run this team again.

I'm gonna give DG some grace here. He still hasn't been back with the team for all that long, no Mitchell, and first game since the AS break.

And can we just give the Magic some credit, too? Suggs and Black are really good defenders.

We beat Philly with no Don and DG running the show, this may be the game you are speaking of.

You can go to statsmuse and look up the teams record with one guy and not the other.

Fwiw, it's heavily slanted in Mitchell's favor.

@Tlyons

Last year Don did not play much in this game an DG had a fantastic game as well.

I believe this was on national tv as well...

We won in Philly with no Mitchell, LeVert or Ice and the Sixers were full strength.

The other issue is Orlando adjusted their coverage on Merrill and weren’t letting him breathe.

The #1 issue for me is nobody gives DM proper respect. He’s not the MVZ conversation but he’s altered his game to be team oriented and the 18-2 run was under his floor leadership.
Unfortunately, it appears that much of the league has now watched film on Merrill and are playing him much differently; that being said, if they’re playing Merrill tighter, then others should be more open and we need to capitalize on that

Die hard Cleveland sports fan but the Cavs are a tough pill. Soft, diva(Bron) and and a coach that is well below average doesnt fit the Cleveland mold

You are talking out of your ass. Garland had 10 assists and 4 turnovers (2 of which were offset by steals Garland made). Compare that with the assist to turnover ratio for everyone else. He was one of 3 players with a positive +/- in tonight's game.

CPJ was -5, had zero assists, and 2 points. LeVert was -10, had 6 points on 2/10 shooting with 2 assists and 2 turnovers. Merrill had 4 assists but ended up -10 on the night because the Magic were in his shirt whenever he was behind the 3 point line and he's obviously limited defensively.
Garland played 17 minutes in the first half and had all of 3 points to go with 2 assists and 2 turnovers; there’s nothing stellar about that performance. After Suggs’ injury , I stated that DG stepped things up in the 2nd half. C-Peazy played all of 4 minutes in the first half only and had an immediate impact …..gathering a defensive rebound and pushed the ball up the floor for a hockey assist; he scored on a drive on another possession and did force a drive and have the ball knocked off of his leg on another. I’m not stating that he’s better than DG by any means and I didn’t realize that your question was snarky rhetoric and attempted to answer the question thinking that you hadn’t watched the game.

Now, I’m sorry that I took the time to try and help a fellow poster; don’t worry it won’t happen again. Go Cavs

I'm growing very concerned about his conditioning. It's late February and if he's burned some fat off, I haven't noticed it. Even Love was able to play himself into shape after the amount of time Niang has played.

Also, him getting punked tonight was a bad sign. If he's not going to be physical back against bigger players, that's a problem. Might as well give Wade those minutes until TT gets back.
