He was obviously kidding

But…..

It was fair to bring up because even in game the Cavs win by 7-8 points, fans freak out about challenges he loses or doesn’t initiate that lose the team points or a possesssion and talk about how we’re winning in spite of a handicap

So it’s totally valid to credit, even in a joking way, a challenge won earlier in the game that resulted in a point swing and the retention of our challenge to use later in the game.

So it's one of the reasons I give DG a pass in crutch time is that it's obvious he is being told to play differently. Last night is a perfect example. there is no way in hell the final 2 minutes of offensive possessions play out that way other than by a team being told run the clock. It happened the moment the Cavs took the lead
I think you're right and to me that's coaching malpractice because they almost never get any kind of decent shot attempt in those situations.

I think JBB is doing pretty well on challenges lately and last night he was excellent. And he's even had a few half decent ATOs lately. But I refuse to give him one shred of credit for being forced to play Wade and reaping the benefit. It sucks that the only way guys like Merrill and Wade get chances is because of injury, because JBB is rotations-challenged.

How about this.

He’s been the coach of the team the entire time Dean Wade has been here

Dean Wade has improved in his time here. In both sides of the ball. With individual and team defense.

Dean Wade gets the most credit for that without a doubt but the entire Cavs staff including the head coach deserve some credit for that.

And I don’t recall any posts saying that JBB should get direct credit for the 20 point outburst from Dean.

My problem is that IMO JBB doesn't try very hard to find enough minutes for DWade. Now like a blind squirrel he may have found a tasty nut, he'll be forced to use Wade a lot more with Evan out, and if that brings success JBB will be right back in the HC of the year chatter, which is him receiving credit for things that were forced on him. He got loads of credit for the winning streak while DG and Mobley were out and that wasn't due to what he would have chosen without the injuries.

So do you think that in November or December, JBB should have been proactively giving less minutes to Evan Mobley(who the organization treats as a franchise player) or Georges Niang(who his GM had just gone out and prioritized in FA as a shooting upgrade with playoff experience)?

Remember, last year when Okoro went down early for several weeks, JBB chose Dean the starter at SF. That was a big opportunity granted and there were other options. Unfortunately Dean himself got injured after only a week or so.

Its just not as cut and dry as everyone makes it seem when basically saying JBB is the worst coach ever and never does a single thing correct

Yeah his end of game awareness is truly awful. I would rather have Caris who is a low basketball IQ idiot bring the ball up if it's a tight game against the Hawk.
When JBB subbed in Okoro for Garland for defensive purposes late, I was hoping that Okoro would stay on the floor and either he or LeVert would bring it up

So you're saying it would have been impossible for JBB to find another 10 minutes a game for Wade? And I just named several things JBB did well so the last sentence is wrong at least in a response to me. I also give credit to JBB for having the team play hard.

I have a problem with JBB always trying to shorten the rotation and failing to utilize the talent on his bench to reduce the load of the starters even by a little, and even when the schedule is grueling with back to backs, etc. . Then the majority of his starters end up sidelined with repetitive stress type injuries.
