2023-24 Season | Game #64 | Nets @ Cavs | March 10, 2024 | 7:00 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
mitchell does, and so do other all-stars/superstars
Mitchell had Strus and Wade on the court with him. I mean for some reason, we had all of Garland, CPJ, and Merrill on the court at the same time and the Nets just shot over them. The second best offensive player on the court tonight was Niang. LeVert has shot like he owes his bookie more than he can pay off since the all star break.

You just knew that when CPJ got run, and the Cavs played worse instead of better, the Haters would find a way to blame Garland anyway. They have not disappointed.

Tried to write a word for every Nets made three-pointer this evening.

Cavs are a below .500 (6-7) team following their nine game win streak. Sigh.

CRAIG! had a nice stat line but his first half run was a -4 and had two critical turnovers in the second half that can't make me feel any more confident JBB will play him any more than he has to..

  • Merrill is in a slump. He had a 1-7 night and is just searching for his shot right now. He’s shooting 29.5% from deep over his last 10 games with his 7-13 performance against New York really saving that from it being even worse. He is also a -42 over that span.
  • LeVert got the start and had seven assists but is in a mini slump of his own. He’s shooting 33.3 FG% and 31.6 3P% over four March games. Cavs need more in these non-Mitchell games.

Most Cavs fans dont blame Garland. I actually think he is talented. We as fans just realize u cant win a ship with him. I never blame him game to game its the big picture

Garland/Allen may have produced in the 4th like against the Wolves but the 3 point barrage killed us.

By comparison, a huge portion of the board gets up in arms over everything Caris does and want to launch him to the moon, yet his AST/TO rate is 3.07 to Garland's 1.9.
I think most have finally come around to realize that he’s an overpaid liability , for the most part; one who can score in bunches on occasion, and has had a few bizarre injuries with which to cope. However, some of those are due to the manner that he plays and glides around in the court. There are a few holdouts who seemingly idolize him and think he can do no wrong and if he has a bad game, it’s not his fault. Unfortunately, I see regression in his game this year…I just do . Even his ball handling is strangely less adept….almost had 2 travel/double dribble calls tonight but the refs were kind.

With all of that being said, he’s a very likable guy and maybe a different coach might utilize him differently.

Garland’s gotta be the most careless player I’ve seen in awhile. He’s a turnover machine right now. Even when they don’t end up as turnovers, he’s frequently caught in the air for no reason and has his passes deflected. So frustrating to watch

Merrill fading would be a huge blow for this team. Him being an instant offense weapon that demanded attention from the opposition was a huge boost. He's only shot 30% from deep since the break and that includes a 7/13 game or else his numbers are miserable.

There's been a lot of hand wringing about the play of Darius and Evan and JB's coaching (all of which are valid IMO), but the surest way for this team to flame out again is for the role players to shrivel and shoot like crap when it counts again.

Like you'd expect a 6th man making $15M?

Perhaps you missed the fact that the AST/TO numbers I posted were for the season and not tonight's game?
Caris has been shooting like a borderline NBA player on a league minimum deal since the all star break. He's paid what he is so he can step in, in case of injury, and start. He's paid that much to provide solid, if not good, minutes in exactly this type of situation.

Now, I'm not a prisoner of the moment, but you can draw a straight line from his post all star break performance and the team's struggles. Blaming Garland because he hasn't been Captain Save a Scrub is ridiculous.

It's exaggerated due to Mitchell's absence, but yes. You can't remove 40% of the offense and then have all your role players slump.

Garland hasn't been playing great all year, yet you seem to think I'm only talking about the last couple of games for some reason. Garland's a max contract player. I guess we shouldn't expect more out of him lol
