2023-24 Season | Game #70 | Cavs @ Timberwolves | March 22, 2024 | 8:00 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It goes beyond stats with Darius. You can paint a pretty box score and still not be very conducive to winning. Andre Drummond, for example. I'm starting to become concerned that Darius is in that mold of player. He's talented and you will always be able to point at some numbers and say he's a star caliber player, but is he a winner?

There's a middle ground to be reached here and it's not quite the black and white that fans seem to live in..

I appreciate Garland getting his shot back, and I'm glad he has..

Looking at the box score, Garland has certainly posted some solid lines of late..

But watching the game, there's not the feel of control, and consistency that I would want and hope Garland brings... When Garland was out and Mitchell was leading the team, there was a sense of confidence and crispness the team was playing with... The offense was humming, and the lulls of offensive unknown just weren't there..

With Garland, there's just too many offensive lulls throughout the game... There's times where it's painfully obvious they need an organizer and someone who can put the team on his back for stretches to get them through, and while it's screamed for Garland to step up he just really hasn't on a consistent basis... Which is hard to watch because we've see him be that guy before, and it hasn't clicked this season for whatever reason.. LeVert has seemingly been that guy more at times of late than Garland has...

So yeah, there's been progress with Garland but with what he's being paid and with what the Cavs need right now, it's been a bit disappointing to not see him take that step forward like everyone wants and has hoped for...

It doesn't mean Garland needs to be moved for Keldon Johnson this offseason but it does mean the Cavs need to find a way to get more out of Garland, and Garland also needs to do some self-reflection and maturation in order for this team to take the next step..
Well stated, Smooth. I’ve attempted to state similarly which unfortunately due to my eloquence (and lack thereof) and (only recent) bashing hasn’t been as well received by some. While like yourself, I have seen positive signs shooting-wise on occasion, the defensive lapses and failure to run the offense more confidently/consistently along with what by now seem to be natural tendencies to over dribble and jump in the air without a plan are simply too apparent .

I don't know what most of this is supposed to mean.

We aren't doing a career comparison here. IF we were, Ben Simmons would, in fact, be better than Darius Garland over the course of their careers.

We are looking at how players are playing this season. The whole season.

I'm sorry, but Garland has been back longer than he was hurt for at this point. If you wanna keep using the injury excuse, fine. Do you.
Sounds good. Garland was playing at an All Star Level just last season. He had a great stretch this season as well pre-injury. I will continue to do me.

Fair enough; unfortunately how he played in prior seasons doesn’t help us now and perhaps even moving forward. His fit next to Mitchell and his limitations due to strength and size are real concerns and that’s when he was even playing at a high(er) level

The Cavs are a 86th percentile team in net points per 100 possessions this year, and 94th percentile last year when Mitchell and Garland share the floor together...

The statement is a bit inflated... The fit is more than fine, and has been more than successful when together..

I'm not concerned with these two as much as I am with other contributing factors, or simply Garland himself..

Yeah of course not, he broke his jaw and missed how many games this season. He will still be listed on most sites as a top 15 player under the age of 25 after this season too... lol lol lol

Well he turns 25 next season so he’ll definitely be off those lists then lol lol. What line will you use then?

Sometimes I think the game threads are bad, then just look at the RCF mentions on Twitter.. :chuckle:

However, the Cavs did have their biggest lead (56-49) in the 3rd quarter when TT was forced to start due to the hand laceration that JA suffered. I am by no means agreeing with the crux of that statement, by the way

Wemby, Jacquez , Amen Thompson, Ausar Thompson, Brandon Miller, Scoot Henderson, Anthony Edwards, Haliburton, Tyrese Maxey, Zion Williamson, JA Morant, Tyler Herro, Desmond Bane, Nic Claxton, Coby White, Cade Cunningham, Jalen Green, Evan Mobley, Scottie Barnes, Jonathan Kuminga, Franz Wagner, Senguin, Banchero, Cam Thomas, Tre Murphy, Chet Holmgren, Jabari Smith, Keegan Murray, Jaden Ivey, Ben Mathurin, Walker Kessler, Shaedon Sharpe et al …………..and that’s from spending 2 minutes. I‘m sure that I could come up with 25 -50 more that I’d prefer over him at this point, too (that‘s me personally)
There are a lot of guards on this list who can't shoot.

Well he turns 25 next season so he’ll definitely be off those lists then lol lol. What line will you use then?
He does in January so no he will not be... Most likely his current season production because I obviously think he will return to his form next season, which is an All Star type caliber player...
