8 year contract LoL and not even an All-Star performer. Baseball is fucking wild. Meme contract.

You can't only expect to trade guys that you think rank the lowest on your list as a team. The other team might just get a real good player in return. If you have a bunch of MIFs in the pipeline you have a chance to trade quality and still keep quality. The issue is last year at this time Gimenez would have been grouped in with the fungible, tradeable, MIFs. Although we have a lot of them, and we fans may view them as more or less fungible, somehow I doubt the Guardians' brain trust views them that way. And, if a trade partner happens to rank them the same way we do, we have a problem, and the "surplus" is irrelevant.

Imagine a Kwan or Andres contract. Those are really the 8 year candidates. I don't like that baseball is adapting to the inflation shit. Dolan's most likely don't like it neither. With the way this is going, Jose Ramirez would have gotten insane money in a year. These payments are making it really hard to buy out free agency years unless you give them the 8-10 year deal as a rookie. Just not sure how you can really play for under $125 million in payroll.

I believe the story was on MLB Network last night that a $20M a year deal for Nimmo with the NYMets would end up being actually $38M per year due to luxury tax penalties....
Every prospect is potential quality until they prove it is real. But the Mets could trade Rosario and Gimenez because they were getting Lindor. Mets got the guy they wanted and Cleveland got guys that can actually produce in return. Cleveland needed low priced replacements and got them. Money is no object for the Mets so they got the proven star. If trading minor league players doesn't hurt at the time of the deal, then you probably think you have a bunch of sh*t prospects which is not a good thing. That's true. I guess I'm just saying that "quality" is a relative concept.
Makes extending Bieber an even more remote possibility. With the way this is going, Jose Ramirez would have gotten insane money in a year. Yeah 20 million a year for Nimmo is going to be gross.
Like one of the worst contracts in the MLB in 2-3 years gross.
Yeah - fair market for Gimenez and TMac in particular might already be out of reach..Imagine a Kwan or Andres contract. Those are really the 8 year candidates. I don't like that baseball is adapting to the inflation shit. Dolan's most likely don't like it neither.
Actually, you’ve identified the two most important extension candidates: T-Mac and Andres.Yeah - fair market for Gimenez and TMac in particular might already be out of reach..
Lock up Bo Naylor NOW!!!! Mostly kidding, but.
I think you are actually right, but kwan is the guy the FO might be looking at and going, “shite, we may have to get this done now.”Yeah - fair market for Gimenez and TMac in particular might already be out of reach..
