Ten innings, one run, and it came on a walk, a wild pitch, and a bloop single. Couldn't get a run in from 3rd with nobody out. Worst hitting team in franchise history. Time to take this season out back and shoot it. Start calling around and see who wants Bieber.
Bibee was brilliant - he has now allowed two runs or less in five of his six starts. Six innings, 2 hits, 9 K's. He got a ton of swings and misses by lefties against his changeup. His ERA is down to 2.88. Most importantly, he retired the top three hitters in the batting order 1-2-3 in the 6th inning - the third time they faced him. Coming in opponents were hitting .409 the third time they saw Bibee, but tonight he got Nootbar, Goldschmidt, and Gorman in order.
Hentges was awesome getting out of a bases loaded and nobody out jam, then getting the Cardinals in order in the 8th. If not for his excellence Karinchak's 4.57 ERA would be around 6.00. James needs to go down to Columbus to work on his command. He's now walked 19 batters in 21.2 innings. It's gotten so I expect him to walk the first two hitters he sees and I'm surprised if he doesn't.
DLS continues to make his case for being the 8th inning guy, lowering his ERA to 1.89 with a perfect 9th inning. Sandlin did not pay enough attention to Donovan who swiped 3rd in the 10th and scored on Fry's passed ball. If not for the stolen base and passed ball he doesn't score. But it doesn't matter - we would not have scored in the 11th or 12th, either. The Guardians were 2-for-12 with RISP.
