Bibee was awesome. Two runs in six innings; one on a fly ball down the line that barely made it over the fence and should have been caught and the other thanks to Straw shying away from a fly ball he should have taken control of followed by a seeing-eye single. A little better defense and Bibee could have had a six-inning shutout.
I was really impressed with the performances of Williams and Bibee against the best offense in baseball. These guys are going to be great if we don't overload them with too many innings too soon.
As soon as Stephan came in I said, "Oh no, bad choice". He got the first guy on a good pitch but then walked the next two by nibbling at the edges. At that point you could see the fear on his face. After watching the Rangers for three games he should have known you can not get them to chase early in the count, except for Sieger. Stephan walked two hitters then fell behind the next two and he was toast. He gave the game away because he was intimidated by the top of their order.
Fry and Freeman need to play more. Arias was 0-for-3 against lefties. Why do they keep playing him when he's hitting .086 against them (5-for-58)? How bad does he have to be before they are forced to admit he can't hit lefties?
At least after this series there should not be any realistic hope that the Guardians can make a deep playoff run, even if they could squeeze by the Twins.
