2023 Season | Series #36 | White Sox @ Guardians | Aug. 4-6, 2023

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Nice try Q, but it's the same talent, why can't they (and some have) break out now. Why not complement now? Those complementary pieces were guys like Bell and Civale. Yes, not core pieces, but good stabilizing, complimentary pieces.

The same talent you're waving the white flag with for this season now is the same talent you're hoping performs in 8 months? Not buying that ticket, sorry.

Yeah, I guess that's time to improve...but will it move the pig needle from a 3 to 8? Or wasn't that pig a 3 to begin with and had a shot at the beauty fair?

Maybe you start seeing where I'm coming from. I believe in this group of young players, did so last year, so why not give it a good ride.

Calhoun definitely isn’t.

But I also get a lack of trust in a kid who has played in 1 game beyond AA ball as a professional being subbed on in the 9th of a close game you’re leading from the managers point of view.

Tough spot considering what was and wasn’t available.
Yeah, but here's the thing. The front office decided to promote that guy with 1 game beyond AA ball to the big leagues. That means they felt he was ready to help the team when needed. Today he was needed. Obviously, the decisions made today were the wrong ones.

Yeah I’m aware.

He was promoted because of an injury to another player though, not like he’s getting promoted on merit.

Young players do some weird stuff fresh at the MLB level.

Take Rocchio today for example. I can’t think of a single game over the last few years where he’s made 2 poor throws in the same game, let alone back to back plays in the same inning.

Managers are always creatures of trust. There’s no way Tito trusts Tena in that situation. Calhoun, even without playing 1B for a long time, has played in 1200 MLB games on some really good teams. Not hard to see why Tito maybe trusted him a bit more.

Except there is the big picture. We have our 3 best starters to begin the year hurt, 4th was traded to cover a position of need (power Bat) missing at the major and minor league level in our orginization. We have One first basemen traded because he was under performing, another is hurt and the other part time one is not available. We havent called up our minor league ones because we want to preserve their time of service.

We are a small market team who doesnt have the Mets budget. We aredoing our best with what we have, but this isnt our year for several reasons. If we win the division its more luck our division sucks than anything else.

As fans we need to take the joy of watching the kids develop with the joy of these kids being forced to play out of position and growing pains.

It sucks we lost this game, but in the big picture its hard to blame Tito or management for their decisions. Just move on to the next and be pissed like me that baseball made an assigning decision to let Peacock have exclusive rights on some games even though I spent several $100 dollars to watch Guardiian games out of market. If anything pisses me off about todays game its not the decisions of our orginization, its the fact MLB fucking treats fans like me like shit because I am out of market and have to buy 12 streaming services if I want to catch all the games.

Ok 2 rants over...Guardians good, MLB asshats, lol

So frustrating how Arias can look so bad some days and then reply with something like that. When he stays balanced and swings quick and easy, the ball just jumps off his bat.
Uhhhhhh he's 23 therefore you shouldn't be surprised at his inconsistencies. Especially with recently being given more of an opportunity.

I'm enjoying the efforts of this team. It's like a Glenn Schwartz guitar solo: It doesn't always get where it wants to go, but you can see what he was trying to do.
And then he berates you.

Apparently our starting pitching has been fine sir so disregard all injuries in that department.

Which is an absurd take, but it's been said. I understand why it's been said, but even with all healthy components working, the bullpen will remain our own worst enemy this year. They are just beyond hot smelly apartment dumpster garbage. Our offense does them no favors, but last year they didn't need favors. Small market team like us needs to rely heavily on the pen. Didn't work this year. Maybe next.
