2023 Season | Series #38 | Guardians @ Rays | Aug. 11-13, 2023

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Bibee is a dog, man.

@BimboColesHair i remember the Gavin comp being Cole, but what was the Bibee comp?

What a 1-4 punch.

Wouldn’t mind at all taking a risk and signing these two dudes to long contracts.

They are what 23-24 so signing them until 31/32, would be a gamble worth taking in my mind... (I know I would at least talk to their agents about it)

Verlander. Different body types and all, but if you watch the deliveries there's a ton in common.

Deliveries, sure.

Verlander is the carbon copy guy, mechanically, that you’d like to see harder throwing guys who aren’t 6’6 monsters imitate. Smooth and uses a lot of his legs and torso to generate his power, which is what let him rack up as many IP as he has to this point in his career. What Tanner does well too.

But stuff wise? He’s pretty similar to guys like Spencer Strider and Dylan Cease. Doesn’t quite have Strider’s 99 MPH in his arsenal or the bite of Cease’s slider, but very similar pitch mix, velos, movement on the pitches, etc.

Espino is the Verlander clone in the system. That’s who I see from the mechanics to the loudness of the stuff when I see him. Verlander and Jose Fernandez.

Do you think he can come back and be every bit the pitcher everyone thinks he can be? I can’t imagine home bibee Williams and McKenzie anchoring this rotation

Espino, drafted in 2019, has pitched as much as just over 90 innings (2021) for his closest fully healthy season since being drafted by Cleveland.. He may be granted a sixth year of MiLB (Cleveland) but, push is coming up against shove w/r to developing as a starting pitcher.. Espino may break into ML baseball as an opener... or RP.. once he has developed his secondary pitches to the extent needed (his slide is already there, imho) he can use them in major league games..

He may transition into being a starter after that.. It might be a way Cleveland can affirmatively keep him on his developmental path.. IDK.. we'll see..

Yes.

His surgery has a high return to previous performance rate.

Surgery was the best thing to get him back to square 1 mechanically too, as his mechanics got all jacked up when he hurt his knee. Also forces him to lift weights less.

The Guardians hit .322 this weekend in Tampa (37-for-115). Straw hit a home run. Gallagher got a base hit and an RBI. Josh Naylor didn't play and Jose went 0-for-4. Not bad. They did a number on Eflin today who came in with a 2.49 ERA at Tropicana Field.

That being said, 3 of the 22 runs scored on wild pitches and another on a wild throw by the pitcher, so we had some help. But after being held to six runs in four games by Toronto at home the offensive outburst was nice to see. Can they keep it going?

Don't forget Calhoun has been good since we got him...

Gabriel Arias' home run in the second inning = a thing of beauty...

@Gson
The item in bold confuses me..
Players occasionally get an extra (4th) OPTION year, but I am unaware of anyone getting an extra year on their clock before being R5 eligible.
If I am missing your meaning (or an aspect of players being granted an extra year) please enlighten me.
