2024 Cleveland Browns Off-Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Its the round before the Browns pick. If you think of failed QB's in the past, that is the round the Browns usually pick one of them in.
Yup. Now they just trade for those failed QBs.

I know it’s not realistic, but play along. Given Atlanta’s odd behavior at QB and their previous interest in Watson, what would you have said if Atlanta offered #8 for Watson, but still required the Browns to pay 90% or more of Watson’s money. If the Browns took a QB at 8, they’d still be on a rookie deal by the time Watson’s money was off the books.

Obviously gigantic risk/reward here. If the QB you take doesn’t work, you likely lost your job and tanked the franchise for a few years because you’d have no money.
Absolutely not.

Nobody should be expecting Penix, McCarthy or Nix to outperform Deshaun Watson.

Maybe not in year one, but that’s be more about projecting year 2, year 3, and beyond.

That being said, is it really that tough for a rookie to outperform what Watson’s done with the Browns? Keep in mind he’s also coming off shoulder surgery so who knows how that goes. Ironically, McCarthy is might the ideal type QB to run the offense Stefanski really wants to run, and he played his college career in similar weather he’d see in Cleveland.

Deshaun Watson is only 4 years older than both Michael Penix Jr. and Bo Nix.

Has literally nothing to do with my post lol. I am just done waiting and hoping for Texan Watson to appear while he does Saudi photo ops.

Guess I should probably wait and see how this year plays out before definitively stating this, but it’s just how I feel right now.

Being done in April is certainly a choice

Anyone not giving him 3 years was never on board to begin with. Year 1 was always going to be a wash.

Well, yea - sometimes, though, opinions change over time and as we accrue more data points. People feel differently about things as years pass.

Regardless, what some fan on a message board “gives” him is irrelevant, he’s here until the FO decides he isn’t. I’ll watch him and cheer for him. I just am finished sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for the star QB to show up, and am ready for whatever comes next. Don’t think that’s super outlandish of an opinion to hold.

This is why I don't get too high or low, and it's a problem for fans in general. My opinion of what he can become after 11 rusty, injury riddled games on a brand new team/offense/roster just hasn't changed all that much.

On the flip side Watson come out out guns blazing and throw for 2500 yards 22 TDs and 4 INTs in the first 8 games and the same doomsday prisoner of the moment fans would be slurping harder than what went down that night at the cheesecake factory a few years ago. The NFL (both offense and defense) is forever adjusting - and for better or worse, we're stuck with what we have.
