2024 NBA Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yup this is why you don’t throw away second round picks !

Do you think his teammate Shannon has any shot?

First time I saw Tshannon, I felt he reminded me a lot of Shannon Brown with a little better dribble. He’s stretched out a little more since then to 6’6 and is a pitbull getting by defenders downhill.

I think he’s going to be undervalued just like Villanova’s Whitmore and has the potential to be one of the better scorers in the draft.

Weird pigtails. Game is solid.

Damn very nice profile! Those passes are great (would fit our new offense so well hehe).

How is his defense? He looks a little stiff on video but teammates say he's like a guard and the high praise for his dad are good sings.

Defense and dunking is all he was known for when he got to campus

He’s pretty versatile just like on offense. Ironically, they lost the game against Penn State because he was out 40ft from the basket switching everything and contested a last second 3 when his teammate got beat, but clipped the guards foot on his contest. If the game wasn’t at Penn State, it would have went to OT

Watching him cover 1-5 and be the only guy along with TShannon to show up offensively, he’s ready to contribute next year

Good stuff on Coleman, Rch!

I'm definitely intrigued.

Speaking of defense and dunking being all one was known for entering campus... Do you think Ryan Dunn from UVA can develop offensively? His defensive potential/profile is ridiculous but he hasn't shown much on offense yet (in part because of how Tony Bennett runs the offense?). He has been a relative non-factor in some of the games UVA underperformed in which has me a bit trepidatious.

Curious how he does vs UNC and I have a pretty good feeling you'll be checking that game out!

What do you guys think about Zach Edey as a late round pick? I am a Purdue homer and really want the best SF who can defend with our first round pick, but I cant decide if Edey will be a decent backup center in the NBA or not.

@RchfldCavRaised your thoughts? We disagreed a bit on Ivey, you loved him, I said being drafted a bit to high, jury is still out, but what do you think?

I don't think so

It's lack of lateral quickness and mobility for him. He's solid enough but a total liability when coaches go smaller and play even 5 G League level athletes like Diebler did to upset them in his first game Saturday (one I made money on)

Book is out on Edey since Farleigh Dickinson upset them in the first round last year. Spread the floor with 1-5 and you can take advantage of him being a liability defensively, and he's simply not aggressive or assertive enough to really punish you on the other end for punishing him by going small.

Edwards was sensational today

If he keeps playing like this he won’t last until the Cavs pick

Draft fever has died down a bit with the Cavs ripping off wins like Peter Griffin ripping farts in the wind......

But.......I'll give everyone a day or two to post players to be included in the first data pull.

This is later in the season, than in past years, so it should give a really clear first look on the guys to pay attention to for the actual draft.

My draft model is really so-so on him. Says he's a bust candidate. :party smiley 004:

I'll post some data later this week but initial glance.........a pick in the late 20's is going to be REALLLLLLLY valuable.

The crop of international players is pushing a pocket of about 8 guys in to the 21-29 range that really shouldn't be there.

And that is excluding the combine heroes that will bump some of these ultra productive players down.

The guys in this range that my draft model especially loves.....

SF - Dillon Jones - He's older.....he doesn't seem real athletic......but even with an age and conference penalty......my draft model likes him like it likes few small forward prospects. If he tested as even an average athlete, all his advance stats are just really impactful.

SG - Kevin McCullar.....I get it, he's older......just a lot to like and I think a roster fit. Will have to see what happens with his knee.

PG - Tyler Kolek......he's Brandon Podi 2.0......he's not what you expect to look at.......but his data is OFF THE CHARTS.

PG - Devin Carter

Part 2 - damn media limit! :chuckle:

SG - Trey Alexander.......my draft model has loved him every year.......screams good NBA player.

PF - DaRon Holmes II.....Alexander 2.0...my draft model has loved him every year.......screams good NBA player.

Anyway......just some stuff to chew on.......I'll get more data loaded and pull consensus draft ranks to try to slot guys.

And then one more today.........if you are marrying data and eye test........the sleeper of this entire draft, relative to where I see him mocked (late 2nd):

PG - KJ Simpson

His data is great......but setting that aside, he has such natural feel for space and where he should float to. Moves great with and without the ball. Compact shooter with a quick release. Explosion off the dribble......genuinely confused why he is so low if he is anywhere near his listed 6'2" height.
