I would rather start Michael Taylor than Myles Straw.

I like the move for both teams.
It is a good move for both teams. It gives the Royals a couple more SP prospects to sort through. More importantly, it gives the Twins one of the best defensive CFers to help keep Buxton healthy. If it works and Buxton stays healthy, think of the WAR picked up by making this trade.

I expect the Twins to trade Kepler now for a good BP piece. Actually, with the Gallo signing they have a couple of LHH corner OFers they can deal in Kepler and one of Larnach or Wallner.

And KC can now release Drew Waters upon the world!

The Twins can use Taylor as a defensive replacement every game and/or as a pinch runner, too. Pretty much the role I would love to see for Straw.

Too bad the Gs can't get into a deal for Kepler. Who knows what kind of #s he could put up if he was in Cleveland year round...

I thought the same thing in comparing Taylor to Straw, but I'm not interested in Kepler. I'd prefer Wallner to Kepler, but I don't want either.

I would not trade Straw for Taylor.
Not that there's a hair-breadth of difference, but there's just no point.

Pretty much the same player, but I don't understand the motivation for your statement. Did someone mention trading one for the other?

I will say that Taylor provided KC with an OPS+ of 90 while Straw gave us a 65 OPS+. Over his 5 yr career Straw has an 79 OPS+ while Taylor has a 81 OPS+ over 9 yrs. Put them in a bag, shake it up and reach in and pick one.

Well no, but they were Compared in the previous two posts.
I like Myles Straw.

They are comparable and it's ok if you like Straw.

I honestly don't prefer one over the other.

I'm not particularly comfortable in CF though.
I miss Grady.
I share your sentiment. For a team that doesn't have a lot of power at this time, having a weak hitter anywhere in the lineup is not optimal. I'd feel a lot better if Brennan was our starting CFer and Straw our 4th OFer and that may be what happens. We have Valera well on his way, but I don't think he can play at a defensive level to earn CF even if he does hit.

Straw and Taylor are close to the same player, except that Straw gets on base more, is a much better base stealer and base runner.

Taylor will also be 32 this season, and is slowing down, which will gradually eliminate his main asset.
