23 MLB Offseason News!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I can’t believe that’s the best that he could get; quite a fall for the only 27 year-old
First three years age 21-23: 111 HR, .278 AVG, .928OPS, 144 OPS+ with ROY and MVP awards. Last three years age 24-26: 41HR, .203 AVG, .648 OPS, 74OPS+.

TB and/or the Mariners will be hurting if Wander Franco or Julio Rodriguez get the injury bug and skills diminish.

Twins jumped all the way to the 5th overall pick in the inaugural draft lottery, despite starting in the 13th position. Boo.
Yippee for the twins...

fwiw.....

This is perhaps one of the poorest drafts in the last few years.. The college hitters are about as good as there is.. and they are nothing special.. This is a good year to consider trading a Competitive Balance B pick.. instead of over paying for roster fodder type picks..

Considering the A's and their 2nd worst record resulting in the 6th overall pick... Maybe our comp B pick is a worthy add to a Murphy trade?

Twins end up with the 5th pick overall and the Competitive Balance A #4 pick for 2023. Not bad...
Tigers with the 3rd overall and Comp A/6th..
Royals with the 8th overall and Comp B/5th.
Guardians with the 24th overall and Comp B/1st.
White Sox with the 15th overall and NO Competitive Balance pick.

A's with the 6th overall and Comp A/8th - the final pick of the round.

Yes.. it's got a BTV value of $ 2.4MM.. or accounts for about 5 % of the Murphy value.. It also means that the deal is beyond the talking stage.. Right now.. it still looks like the A's have lit the candle on both ends and time is passing, rapidly..

I'm pretty convinced the A's will be waiting until the completion of the rule 5 draft to trade Murphy. If Hankins doesn't get selected.... Add him to the "existing" Murphy deal. A little more roster certainty, or something like that.

Disagree strongly with this..

I guess I don’t know MLB as well as I thought I did, because I have literally never heard of this guy:

Bell for 16.5M > Bellinger for 17.5M.
Both players are trying to recapture what they were earlier in their careers, it's just that Bellingers high was much higher than Bells. I think both are solid risks to take. Bellinger is more versatile, but I think his health is a bigger question. Can Bell reach his tantalizing potential, for even one monster season, or has his book been written? Another guy I think could have a surprising year in a shiftless MLB is Human Windmill Joey Gallo.

What's the word on Carlos Carrasco? Could he be interested in a return to Cleveland?

Mets picked up his option on November 10th. He’s penciled in as their No. 4 starter.
