23 MLB Offseason News!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So I'm a diehard Red Sox. Been a fan for 23 or 24 years now. I know I can't bitch because I've seen 4 WS titles in my life, but if they let Xander walk I'll be pretty pissed. Dudes been with the org for like 15 years and deserves to be a Sox lifer and he's still pretty fuckin good.
It seems like ownership now has a mentality of a small market team instead of one of the richest ownership groups in all of sports. If they let Xander walk, especially after trading away Mookie, to me, that all but confirms that they won't give Devers what he deserves either. Idk. Like I said, I know I can't complain, but it's still frustrating. I know most of you are Guardians fans so you don't care what a Sox fan has to say but I just needed to vent a little lol.
First, yes you're right. We don't give a damn about the Sox.
Second, I don't really understand the problem with the Sox. You're a big market, dollars shouldn't be an issue.
Since MLB is not a level playing field, you either gotta spend the cash like the Yanks and Dodgers. Or play SmartBall like the G's and Rays. Plus, mix in better pitchers.
BTW, thanks for our manager.

Around MLB was setup to talk about around MLB, so if you have a few peeps that want to start a Red Soxs thread, go for it lol

I don't get what the Red Soxs are doing right now either... I feel like whoever is making decisions feels they can compete, but they really aren't hitting on enough moves to legitimately stay in the mix in the east... I mean I could be wrong, but the path they are on isn't one of winning in my mind...

Bonilla won't hurt you defensively and he doesn't hold back your offense.
Heck, he doesn't even take up space on the 40!
All for a mere 1.1 Mil?

Bargain.

You're exactly right. I'd be willing to give ownership some wiggle room if there was any sort of plan in place but there doesn't appear to be one. Great one year, last place the next. Great year after that, last place the next season. It's getting very old. I just want consistency. I mean they were 2 wins away from the world series last season and did nothing in the off-season but trade away key players or let guys walk in free agency. (I know they signed Story but he alone can't make up for all the players that left.)
I'm glad Chaim Bloom has retooled our farm system but the dude has struck out in pretty much every trade he's made.

Trae Turner is just an older version of Gimenez with a bit less power right? Obviously Turner has done it for longer and is a proven, but if Giminez is switched back to SS and keeps up his improvement, they are similar players right?

The risky thing for the Phillies and Turner is that so much of Turner's value and game is predicated on his elite speed and speed almost always deteriorates as guys age.

What's going to happen when he goes from one of the fastest players in the league to just a regular run of the mill fast dude? Even those kind of subtle declines can be a major factor in production.

Pirates combing the bin for pitching....

Vince Velaquez is an interesting lotto ticket... But like Santana, just another house they're hoping to flip.

Anyone else find it funny that one MLB Trade Rumors article is headed "Heaney has been offered multiple 3 yr deals, but wants a 4th" then a couple articles later there's the "Heaney agrees to a 2 yr deal with Texas"? I found some humor in it anyway. Having said that, Texas is going to be hard to handle if they can stay healthy.

Bell for 16.5M > Bellinger for 17.5M.
Been a down two years for Bellinger for sure.

Cubs could net some nice prospects in July if Bellinger re-finds the swing that he has in his first 3-4 years in LA

For the Guardians, I agree, Bell a much better fit

A healthy Haniger = $$$$... if they get a tall guy to stand next to him.. they'll be dangerously improved..

Twins jumped all the way to the 5th overall pick in the inaugural draft lottery, despite starting in the 13th position. Boo.
