yeah, a deal would be nice....

The NYY's have a bunch of "Plesac's" on their 40 man and in their minor league system.. The NYY's may attempt to cobble together a fifth starter from those guys.. and, if by chance they don't cut it.. the NYY's may come calling.. We'll see..

What MLB player do the Yankees have that could make this team better this year?

Torres, but you already knew that.

I created a deal at your favorite site(BTV) that sent Allen and Valera to Miami for Luzardo. Adding Luzardo would be a game changer in a big way IMo. Valera and Allen might be enough to tempt Miami into agreeing to it and oddly enough I had to add cash going to Cleveland to get the deal to be accepted. This is the type of deal they could look to make without decimating the farm system or hurting the ML team. Clearly you and I have differences, but this is the type of deal that I think we would agree on. Prospects used to improve the current team and Luzardo isn't a FA until 2027.

Interesting idea...trading two top prospects for four years of Luzardo.

But why not do that kind of deal for a really good position player? Something the org needs, instead of something we have more than enough of? Why not get behind a deal that throws in one more top prospect for Murphy earlier?

The need we might have for a SP is only temporary, unless we think all of our young starters will flop, plus Civale and Plesac.

But lets look at Luzardo for a moment.

If we ignore the fact that he's had TJS and since then had IL stints for a shoulder, a lat, and forearm tightness...and if we ignore his extremely violent delivery (think Jared Wright), Luzardo would be a great get. But Valera and Allen would be a huge over pay for the real Jesus Luzardo, esp when the org doesn't need a long term fix for the rotation.

I'm not a fan of any youngster with a history of health problems, esp pitchers. No matter how good they might be, those are the kind of youngsters I'm more than willing to trade, because somebody is always willing to trade for the shiny bauble made of of very thin glass.

Look at the pitchers Cleveland acquires one way or another. Generally, not always, they come with clean health histories and clean deliveries. If they have had health issues, they have clean deliveries. Luzardo has neither.

Actually, Luzardo's delivery has cleaned up nicely and it isn't violent at all. He's shortened his arm path and his upper 90's FB looks like little effort is put into it.

You didn't get Murphy or Reynolds because the demand was one of the big 3 that weren't included in my proposal. Not sure why you couldn't figure that out?

Every pitcher has an injury history. Every single damn one of them so that makes no sense to me whatsoever. The issue isn't injury it's recovery and Luzardo has more than recovered. He is also getting closer to the age of physical maturation which means more strength and durability.

Bieber will be offered and extension, but I don't expect him to take it. All of Quantrill, Civale and Plesac will be FA the year after Bieber which means they will have 2 yrs remaining at the start of the 24 season. Clearly there's going to be some serious turnover in the rotation and if you want to make this year's team better Luzardo absolutely, undoubtedly does that without question. You go into the postseason with Bieber, Luzardo and McKenzie that matches up with anyone. Should any of the young studs perform to their potential then you'd have the best rotation in baseball.

But hey, I'm all for improving the lineup too. You want to replace Straw with Reynolds then be my guest, but they won't give up any of Espino, Bibee or Williams to do it.....obviously.

Murphy was probably lost because he wasn't pursued that hard by Cleveland. They were obviously interested, but the fact that they have a lot of confidence in Naylor means they weren't paying out the ass for him. I know it sucks, but it is what it is.

Yeah, right.

Luzardo isn't a major health question.

TJS postponed his pro debut for a year.

Strained rotator cuff in 2019.

Lat strain in 2019.

Broke his finger 'playing a video game' on the day of a scheduled start in 2021...sound like anybody we know?

Missed 71 games due to a forearm strain. (Former TJS patient) last season.

Nearly every scouting report on him, including after the past season, adds a health caveat.

Luzardo has made 18 MLB starts in both 2021 and 2022. Whats your prediction for MLB starts this year? Whats your prediction for MLB starts in 2025?

Heck, Civale has made more starts in both years....and both Civale and Plesac have been worth as much fWAR over the last two seasons.

I told him that, but CDav won't listen lol

I wouldnt call defense, power and on base percentage analytics. Those factors have been around for decades so even old men like us can understand why he is an average player despite being in the top 3 in one major metric.

Basically Ahmed is a butter face....you know nice body, butter face.
It reminds me of Billy Hamilton while he was with the Reds. Lightning fast, 50+ SB in the books. The only problem is he barely drew walks, an OBP under .300 and OPS+ around 70. But IF he got on base, look out!

Amed, look at those singles!

You have to look at the differences between Luzardo now and the Luzardo from 2 yrs ago, and every pitcher is a health risk.

I'll predict he makes 30 starts this year.

Comparing Civale and Plesac to Luzardo is laughable. In fact it's fucking stupid. Even taking risk into consideration and the risk between those 3 is equal. The difference being Luzardo has made changes to become more durable. What have Plesac and Civale done?
I told him that, but CDav won't listen lol
I wouldn't listen to you because you don't know WTF you're talking about. FFS you want to deal for IKF.

Plesac is durable. He just needs to figure out how to better manage his anger but his actual body seems to be fine to throw a lot of pitches, when he's not hurting himself.
