A Look Inside the Dysfunction of the Cleveland Browns

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I actually like that he’s doing this.

I’m tired of ESPN always pushing narratives. Especially right after Browns fans feel good about themselves and feel good about the future, that shit piece came out.

Don’t get me wrong, Jimbo is an idiot. But in this case, I’m glad he decided to go scorched earth on them.

I mean, it's hardly pushing a narrative. The Browns have been a dysfunctional fuckgorge for years, it's not like the ESPN piece was misrepresenting the Organization in any way. If anything I think the piece made it extremely clear that things had changed with Dorsey and Baker entering the picture.

I get that this is probably a Cleveland thing, and it's not something I will ever totally be able to understand, but I really don't think that article was such a big deal. I get why Haslam ended his partnership with ESPN and that is certainly his right, but does it really change anything? Has it changed anything? People are still excited about the Browns on a national level, Baker is turning into the next big star QB, we have more buzz heading into the off season in terms of free agency and drafting than almost any other team... Like, Things are good!

Not that I care one way or another about the article (I'm too pumped for our team - as you said, things are good!), but I don't think the piece was trying to be positive at all.

It was moreso saying, "things look vastly different with Dorsey and Baker there.... but have they really changed???"

The guy who wrote it went on Rich Eisens show. Here's a direct quote when talking about Baker View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3d5teugDSA

"I automatically was thinking like, what is gonna happen here, because this could go great, or this could be Red Right 88, the Drive, the Fumble, the Shot and Baker Mayfield"

An open ended question, and he just delves into "Cleveland cursed" talking points. I am not saying anything in his piece was inaccurate, but I don't think for a second his agenda is remotely pro-Cleveland.

I should note that I hardly think the piece was a Cleveland hype job, I agree with the characterization by Vee-Rex... But, fuck man, how many times have those exact worries and misgivings been voiced on this forum alone? It's not like he's inventing a new talking point here, he's highlighting a very real, very tangible part of being a Browns fan. And people didn't react by shitting on the Browns, by and large. People were incredulous when it came to Haslam to a degree, but almost none of the ridicule seems to be aimed at Browns in its current organizational form.

And again, if Haslam doesn't like getting ridiculed, I totally understand why he would end his partnership with ESPN, but it would probably have been a better idea if he had just not been a complete fucking idiot.

The entire piece was “Haha, the Browns are a dumpster fire” and even when acknowledging that we fell ass-backward into Baker and Dorsey, Wickersham basically says “it’s only a matter of time before Haslam fucks it up again.” Wickersham basically wrote it with a smug grin, I’m sure—as you can tell that he was excited as hell to destroy the Browns organization.

He clearly has an agenda. The timing of the piece is bad. It’s a bunch of shit that we mostly already knew anyway....

So why does it need out there at this moment in time? To kill all hope again? Remind us that we’re a dumpster fire?

It wasn’t a piece to show how far we’ve come. It was written to tear us back down.

To me, Seth Wickersham has the most punchable face in America. I.... just really want..... to punch him in his stupid face.

He has a very punchable face. Like east coast preppy douchebag esque face.

This article never bothered me in the slightest, although I can see how it bothered the Haslam’s.

Sure, we WERE disfunctional. That was before Baker. Now we are awesome and will be for a decade. It’s like someone railing on a skinny person who used to be lazy and overweight with bad eating habits.

I actually give the owners a lot of credit. They were clueless, realized it, and changed the power structure. I think Dorsey is great and he is running operations.

This is a new era in Browns football, and this is the best part as we go from terrible to awesome. Once we are awesome fans will get used to it and pick apart every misstep, becoming Monday Morning QB experts. Enjoy the ride and leave the haters in the rear view mirror.

Being good doesn't automatically make you non-dysfunctional. Look at the Steelers. The book is still out on the coaching staff, front office and the Haslams.

It does in this case because Baker Mayfield.

One person can tilt the organization from stable to unstable. Let’s just hope that Baker is that stable force. We all think he is, I think he is, but let’s hold off until he holds the Lombardi trophy in 2020.

One person can potentially do that, but that person is the owner.

Not the QB of the football team. He can only make the on-field product slightly better.
