What does woke mean? Following the rules in this instance? Is it woke to go when the light is green?
What does cancelled mean? Does it mean you aren't allowed to exist in society or that you shouldn't be allowed to put others in danger by lying? How has he been cancelled? He broke the rules of his company and people are criticizing him. Is that woke?
It's not weird to bristle at lying. You could have just as easily said, "Wow but aren't you part of the mob too? You seem to think lying is bad."
I find it fascinating you can see the selfishness of a player like KPJ and its detriment to the team, but seem to see no issue with the leader of a team lying to fans, the organization that trusts him to lead, and his teammates. Hanging them out to dry in a game where missing a single one can be disastrous to the team. This isn't a teenager either, this is a longtime vet and leader.
This guy did his own research and the conclusion it brought to him as a mature critical thinking adult was to lie to everyone that was depending on him. Seems immature and cowardly at the very best. This guy is a liar and when he gets caught in the lie he blames a woke mob. It would be comical if it was toddler. Somehow it is a commentary on societal decline when a grown man lies, gets caught and then blames others. His entitlement is through the roof.
Exactly who did he lie to? From what I've read, the NFL knew, his team knew, and his teammates apparently knew. So the only people he lied to were the media and fans, and ....what possible difference does that make? If you listen to his point, he objected to the entire idea of his health status being public in the first place. He doesn't/didn't concede that either the media or fans had a right to know either way, so he gave a sketchy answer to a question he believes he had no responsibility to address publicly in the first place.
But that's not even the point I was making. If you want to be outraged about him lying to "us" -- although why it is our business I have no idea -- go ahead. Be outraged. If he wants to condemn whatever he meant when he referred to "cancel culture" and "woke mobs"...so
what? How does his opinion on "cancel culture" or "woke mobs" affect any of you guys in the slightest?
That's the part I don't get. He's name-calling his critics...so why is that a big deal or a reason for those critics to get so fired up at being called a
name?
What's basically happening is this:
1) Rodgers says "it's none of your fucking business anyway"
2) People outside the NFL saying "yes it is --you owe it to us to tell us your vaccinated status, and should be punished if you don't"
3) Rodgers asks the "woke mobs" (whatever he means by that) and "cancel culture" to get off his back
4) You guys get outraged because he used those terms.
I just don't get it. I suppose I can understand being mad at him because he didn't tell fans/media the truth about his vaccination status, but what damn difference does it make what terms he uses to describe his critics? Why is the name-calling itself an issue to get upset about?
