Should we play or trade Amed for the 2023 season?

Let’s be serious here….if we trade Amed, who is the team whipping post with Bryan Shaw gone?
People seem ready to turn on Karinchak, but Rosario really hasn't taken much heat for his play (because he's been solid). Myles Straw will likely continue to get the brunt of the public dismay if I had to guess. Josh Bell might draw some ire as well.

I’m not really into berating our own players like many seem to be though.

Who is dismayed about Myles Straw??? Give me names!

My dark horse answer?

Jose.

People seem to expect him to bat 1.000 so they rant every time he makes an out. There are threads from last season full of people bitching about how he pops up every AB.

I feel ya….Josey is just not god-like, but plenty good enough to cast aspersions upon when he doesn’t come through. Perfect really…

I'm not a fan, but I know he isn't going anywhere and he's obviously hitting much better than last season. The reason I'm not a fan has as much to do with the construction of this lineup as it does with Myles' hitting profile. Getting through the playoffs with very little power is just not historically likely. I would be much happier if Myles was the 4th OFer/late inning defensive replacement/pinch runner. That's just my opinion and nothing more.

It's because it never happened. Most people said that it's likely Rosario got moved because...
  1. We have a group of young, talented middle infielders champing at the bit to play in the big leagues.
  2. Amed isn't anything special, so it isn't going to make sense to pay him tens of millions of dollars when you have potentially more talented players sitting behind him with six years of team control available
  3. The Guardians have a history of trading veteran players before their contract runs out
The only "ridicule" I remember off the top of my head was when people were discussing the whole package of Amed Rosario--like how his incredibly low walk rate, his lack of power, and his tendency to ground into double plays hold back a pretty good hitter, and how his performance in the field, specifically his range, was less than what you'd expect from such a gifted athlete... and then a certain poster would chime in "BUT HE HAS A LOT OF HITS!!!" :chuckle:
I know I said all 3 of those things and it's a travesty IMO that he is still here bobbling balls at SS and starting the season slow again. I find it absolutely funny that someone like CATS that ranted and defended Straw in his horrible offensive 22 season due to his superior defense, but won't acknowledge the superior defense of someone like Arias over Rosario. If he were consistent in his takes he would be pining for Arias at SS. That's how you know who's full of shit around here.

I'm so sick of the "but he has a lot of hits" nonsense. They don't mention he had well over 600 AB and his hits weren't worth a shit which is why his OPS+ was barely over average(106) while having all those hits. This entire conversation is just silly. Nobody hates Amed. The numbers plainly state that Amed is an average offensive player and a below average defensive player. He has little power and sucks at getting on base where his speed would be of good use. To even argue that is nonsensical.

In truth, I knew your particular position -- though I do not share that particular opinion, your reasoning is clear and well defined in the above!:thumbup1:

CF doesnt usually have power though right, sure there are the exceptions, but its the corner outfield, 3b, 1b and DH that gives power right?

I am just saying no problem with Shaw, just if we were going to construct better, it would be Kwan or Naylor or someone like that which needs more power and obviously RF>

I have a big problem with playing Shaw in CF.
