Andre Drummond - LeBron's Robin

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don’t think anybody wants Drummond. Our best hope is that somebody will want his expiring money.

Charlotte is basically the only team in the league without a decent center. If they wanted Drummond, I think we need a 3 way trade of some sort. Attaching Drummond to a Kyrie trade or another super star is probably the path. Koby getting Allen and just having the Cavs be a part of the Harden deal is a good thing for the organization. Being that team that just makes trades work tends to being in good piece for cheap.

Honestly don't see a good trade fit for Drummond due to his huge salary this year. Maybe Sac and Charlotte could use a center but the Cavs would have to take back a player like Barnes or Rozier.. I don't think it's worth it to take on those type contracts when they need to pay Allen in FA this offseason and Prince is also signed for another year. My guess is they just let Drummond walk in the offseason like they did with Tristan but who knows. I highly doubt Drummond, similar to TT last year, would be looking for any type of buyout as he would have to give up his bird rights to do so.

Hopefully they keep McGee but his low salary would make him much easier to deal to a contender.

I think it's safe to say Andre is as good as gone. The question is, can we get anything of value out of him?

I think Drummond is tradable. He’s a very good player who could help a contender. Plus his contract being up means the receiving team can re-sign him at their price or let him walk so he’s much lower risk.

I think we will trade McGee, but not Drummond this season. I also see us talking extension, but not offering the brinks truck.. So his return will depend on somebody else with a brinks truck.. If we don't sign him we will need to pick up someone else to back up Allen..

I understand a lot of this board feels Drummond is a waste because he is not long term. But I agree with Murph on the point the he helps us be competitive.. I think the young players need that right now to keep motivated..

Playing defense is the not fun part of the game, and when Drummond is in there we have been effective at icing down other teams for long stretches. This allows us to stay close, or close big gaps.. And Drummond is a guy you can play 40 minutes..

If we get value for him then yeah we let him go.. but look at what we paid for him, and what we paid for Allen. That big man market is soft, which I think will be reflected in the trade value..So at this point, I think he is with us through this season, and then we will see how it lands..

id say Toronto could also really use a Center, unless they go full tank which is unlikely

We’re more likely to buy out Drummond than give him an extension at this point

Really don't mind if we just let him expire. We'll have contracts coming up.

Of course any asset for him would be a plus but it's not a dealbreaker if he just doesnt have that kind of value.

If Andre Drummond could just play like Ben Wallace, he'd be a fine addition. But that's not good enough for Andre.

Now that we got my mancrush Jarrett, Drummond can go kick rocks.

Drummond has shown no interest in playing within himself. It’s really too bad. He’s be a near max player if he did.

I don't understand the logic in buying him out.. he is done this year.. if any one wants him, he is a second round pick.. in the mean time we are more competitive with him than without.. Of I was going to buy out any player it would be Love..

I think there will be a real rental market for McGee.. Depends on who makes the playoffs, but I could see Dallas interested for example, or perhaps the Heat..

The Cavs don't need him polluting the young players with his sulking. He's going to want to force shit on offense and then throw looks at Garland and Sexton for daring to shoot when they're better than he is. Plus now he'll take minutes away from Allen. If he can't bring back an asset, cut him loose.

Unless someone is offering a 1st round pick for McGee, I would rather keep him and even try to extend him for a couple years.

I think they would do anything they could to get rid of him at this point,,I just don't think there is a good deal out there to benefit the cavs and the receiving team...Your post is spot on I believe he is a bad culture fit with young guys and the FO realized it. (They gave it a chance),,,Is it too early for a buyout?
If he isn't trade by the deadline I have to believe they will buy him out.
Yeah if you can extend McGee a couple years while you draft and develop a young big that's a no brainer.
