Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He’s got the yips for sure….what happened in the off-season destroyed his confidence.

He’s the reason for the Browns resurgence from Darth Jackson and our only playoff win since the birth of Nintendo 64….I think he took it for granted that his job was secure.

The fumbling snaps are a sign of this low confidence.
Take a dogshit team.

Add a variable (Stefanski) and the team improves dramatically.

Take away a variable (Baker) and the team is still good, while that variable looks like the worst QB in the league on another team.

Your take: Stefanski is one of the worst coaches in the NFL, and Baker's terrific--he just has "the yips" for two years running.

If nothing else, the mental gymnastics and pure stubbornness deserve a round of applause

Ok Emily.

Starting to see Ben Simmons level of excuses for this guy.

If you're going to run your mouth as a pro athlete you'd better back it up with performance.

I'm never been a "just shut up and play guy" because I do believe in free speech and athletes have as much right to express their opinion as anyone. That said, I loved the old Mike and Mike weekly segment "Just Shut Up" which highlighted a person in the sports world (owner, player, coach, media) that, due to accumulated stupid comments, just needed to shut up.

Baker needs to do all of us a favor, not least himself, and just shut up until he rises to at least a mediocre level of play.

He won't. He has all the self awareness of The Black Knight in "Monty Python and the Holy Grail."

Meanwhile I'm proud to add to my tally of horribly dated references.

2020 remains being the most flukey sports year.

LeBron gets the Mickey Ring
Dodgers finally achieve buying a ring
Baker top 10 QBR and a playoff win

Talk about some tainted sports moments.

I am not really rooting against Baker, hoped he would be average, but no other way to say Baker has been awful, and that might be an insult to awful QB's.

Great QBs make those around them better. They make mediocre talent look good and good talent look great and great talent look unstoppable.

Good QBs make great talent look good, good talent look mediocre, and mediocre talent look bad

Bad QBs make great talent look mediocre, good talent look bad, and mediocre talent look like shit.

And then there’s Baker.

Baker makes everyone look like shit.

Ok Emily.

yea see i don't get these posts, you disagree but cant say why; so I'll try to flame you. meh

I don't typically enjoy some of Baker's antics, but quite frankly today's athlete is very babyish for my liking; entitled, spoiled.

He's played horrible, he's not a pocket passer and need to be mobile out of the pocket. in today's world of judgement, one must be great instantly or they are branded and not worthy. Geno Smith is turning some heads this year is an example.

John Johnson has the same Bakerish attitude, play as been wildly inconsistent and letting his ego make mistake after mistake.

The fact that Stefanski had this guy looking like a borderline top ten QB in 2020 should be all the evidence we need that Stefanski is one of the better offensive coaches in the league. Stefanski is doing the exact same thing with Brissett this year.

I’m glad to see he’s falling on his face after some of the things he said before he left. Can’t back up his mouth. He won’t even be a backup next year at this rate.

The offensive rankings speak for themselves. Anyone who can’t see it do it on purpose. Baker sucks. Chubb and our OLine hid the flaws he had. The FO realized we wouldn’t go any further than 2020 with him, so they made the decision to go in another direction.
4 games into 2022, it’s obvious to all that know football that Baker isn’t a good NFL QB.

too many live in the moment…

From what I remember this site blamed Baker for his 2021 4th quarter woes.

Currently we got a QB who’s thrown two picks under two mins to lose two games for us and the herd praises Brissett and applauds KS.

The Panthers could be 2-2 and the Browns 1-3 without a hands to the face questionable call; but the NFL wants these nail biting games.

He is closer to the abyss than he realizes.

Of course, if he had any self-awareness many of his problems would be solved.
