Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That "legendary" QB class now has Josh Allen and three bums. IIRC Allen was considered the riskiest pick.

Leaf and Manning was considered a close call.

JaMarcus Russell.

QB evaluation is tough. Just ask the Chicago Bears.

That said, we've proven to be the GOAT franchise at using high draft picks on backup QBs. We had eight a couple seasons ago in the NFL NOT counting ourselves.

Lamar Jackson is a bum?

Crazy thing is, Lamar flames out if he's a Brown. Hue, Haley, Kitchens would be out right along with Lamar. Same song and dance with regime after regime for the Browns.

I wouldn't go as far saying the same about Josh Allen though, he's a bona-fide star that overcomes bad coaching.

Harbaugh, Ravens organization was absolutely perfect for Lamar.

We're on the right path with Stefanski and Berry.

Personally, I think Lamar would have been more likely to succeed here than Allen. Lamar hasn't fundamentally changed how he plays since he entered the league. He hasn't gotten substantially better as a passer. He's just a cheat code of an athlete.

Allen made an unprecedented leap from year two to year three. No one improves like that. No one. And he almost certainly wouldn't have done that here, whereas in Buffalo he had a good coaching staff from day one that was patient and developed him. He would not have gotten that in Cleveland.

I think Lamar 100% fails if he comes here under Hue - Ravens fully embraced how unique Lamar is and committed to letting him use his legs to the max until he became more proficient as a passer. I don’t think Hue would do anything close to that, nor would have Freddy K. Wouldn’t have been enough patience involved to keep from forcing him into pocket passing too early.

I’d have more hope for Allen under Hue and Freddy… but I still think he fails.

Yes, I’m being negative here

I think you have those flipped.

If Josh Allen didn't get the coaching and development that he needed, he's right in line with Baker, Darnold and Rosen.

We quickly forget just how bad he was his first two years--and how much work he put in to change his mechanics and become the superstar he is today.

Another highly regarded QB class was 1983 with Elway, Kelly, Marino, Blackledge, O'Brien and Eason. At one point that group was 0-9 in Super Bowls which is an impressive achievement.

All great points -- it's just personal opinion watching Allen dominate the league right next to Mahomes. Those guys can succeed because on their talent alone at this point in time. Just like Aaron Rodgers did and pushed out McCarthy.

Allen did lay an egg there for a little but I'd say the untapped potential is indeed tapped into. I will never convince myself the Browns have the ability to draft and develop a 'Lamar Jackson'.

I can’t imagine Hue coaching Lamar. Shit would’ve been hilarious to watch.

Baker looks terrible... just chucked a pick six over CMC's head.

Is there a chance he doesn't take the field in the second half?

Bake show throws a pick 6 late in the first half.
