Ehh, Derek Carr and Blake Bortles both had really good seasons early in their careers.I can't think of a situation in the NFL in which a QB played as well as Baker did as a rookie and then didn't amount to anything afterward for any reason other than injuries or maybe off-the-field problems. Flash-in-the-pans happen in baseball but generally not in football, at least not at the QB position. I won't dispute that he's been lousy so far this season, but long term Baker will be fine. We all know he can play because we've seen it. For the time being we just need to ride out this shitshow for as long as it lasts.
Baker’s going to be a good NFL QB. The question is if he’ll be a system QB who can only excel at quick passes or a legitimate pro-bowler. This season looks like it may be the former, but we’ve got another 1.5 years before we really know.
