Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think is more a case of Baker just staring down his target. You can see the DB is watching Baker, and when he sees the throw he makes his move and is able to break up the play. I know people don't want to put all of the blame on Baker, but he is playing horrible. He's staring down receivers, his throws are often inaccurate, coming in either too hot, too high or both and he keeps breaking the pocket when he doesn't need to. It's a shame we didn't retain the QB coach that had him playing well.

I still prefer Baker Mayfield: feeling skittish as the title of this thread until he starts playing better again.

Behind the scenes it seems Baker is not well liked by many.

Landry and Beckham are starting to chirp and I feel the coach and QB were in their crosshairs with their recent comments.

Baker really needs to have a good game against Seattle. This could get real ugly.
What did I miss?

I don't read that as them not liking Baker, just acknowledging that he's playing like shit.

Yeah no there’s a different article that states that around the league Baker isn’t liked. Who knows how true that is but it’s out there.

Landry and Beckham just want the ball. I think they like Baker.

Well yeah he talks a ton of shit out there, so opposing teams probably hate him. All I've ever read about his own teammates is that they pretty uniformly love him.

SIAP, but Footballoutsiders' Film Room take.

Warning, lots of gifs and may cause slowdown.

They have to run more play action.

When you get this Baker, we can stop blaming stupid shit and see this offense how it’s supposed to look.

Fun to watch when he’s pulling the trigger quickly.

Awful, awful INT throw aside, I don’t understand the usage of Nick Chubb. Especially when Baker is mostly throwing good balls (few drops have hurt him).

That pick takes away everything he did good. Just a beyond stupid throw by him.

Awful pick for sure. But Freddie’s lack of game management is just as egregious. You let the clock run and get Seattle’s last timeout that way you at least go into the half up 23-12.

But Baker doesn’t get a pass, that was a horrible decision.
