Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Can someone set up a poll for next Browns QB and how we get them:

1. Mega trade for Watson or Russ
2. Sign a league average guy short term for 15-20M/per year
3. Spend our 1st on a QB
4. Get QB in 2nd, pray he's like Russ, and spend all the saved money elsewhere

Because we sure as hell better not be extending Baker and I don't even want 18.5M of cap space(his current 2022 number) taken up by him at this point.
Going to quote myself.

ESPECIALLY if this is the offense scheme that Stefanski is going to run, I do not want to spend more than 20M on a QB unless they have established that they are CLEARLY top 8 in the league.

If that's our offensive scheme(horrible tonight but has been great at other times) we should 100% be modeled after the Seahawks when they had Wilson on his super cheap 4 year rookie deal or the Rams when they had Goff relatively cheap on his rookie deal.

I feel like a move to IR is the only thing that can save Baker’s season and potential Browns career at this point. When he repeats this type of performance in two weeks in front of the home crowd, it’s going to get hostile. Despite the macho man persona he parades, the mental aspect of this game is clearly impacting his play.

Whether we like it or not, he is the QB next season and we need to make sure he is as mentally and physically ready as possible. This season should be a massive learning experience on how not to handle QB injuries - time to suck it up and course correct to the extent we can.

Good idea.

Hell to the no on #3 though. Spending a 1st round pick on a QB in this draft is pissing a 1st round pick away.

Everything else should be on the table, though.

What's Ryan Fitzpatrick doing these days?

Legend has it he’s still in Baltimore double clutching on a screen pass.
I'd have to watch the film on that but there's the possibility the screen wasn't in place yet and he was trying to get the defenders to jump. Usually on screen plays the o-linemen block a little before releasing but they seemed to come straight through on Baker.

God, I hope so.

I'm officially in the "sit Baker the rest of the season" camp. Should have gone the Sexton route earlier and taken care of those injuries.

You're absolutely correct but don't try to say that out loud here, minds have been made up.
