Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Josh Allen has a 91 rating over his first 4 years also. He's in the same tier, if only a bit above Baker, right? Mariota is essentially the same as Josh Allen is, right?

No, the difference is Josh Allen is a tireless worker and he has improved significantly every year in the NFL, unlike the inconsistency we've seen from Baker. Allen also has some things that Baker will never have, that being, size, athleticism, and an absolute cannon for an arm.

So you admit there's context beyond just stats (rating) we must consider?

Im so confused by this post its all over the place.

you dont think we should blame Bakers numbers on the injury. Gotcha. Then you show us he had a huge drop off in performance while injured. Seems to fly in the face of your initial point, but ill keep reading.

Then you randomly pick 4 other QBs to compare Baker to and make the statement Baker is worse than all but one of these guys over his first 4 years, so the browns should get rid of him because those other teams got rid of their QBs. But then you ignore the fact that one of the players you are comparing Baker to has been a top 10-12 QB over the last couple of seasons and has not only lead his team to a couple of big time playoff wins, but is also the QB for the number 1 team in the AFC this year. Clearly indicating the team that got rid of that QB made a huge mistake

Or how about this. We let a healthy Baker play next year and see where he ends up? Is that okay? or do we just keep pulling comparison's out of our ass that keep showing Baker had a shitty season with an injured shoulder

ETA: you will also see that last year Baker had the best rating in a year of any of these players, and was followed with the 2nd highest drop off (you know he got injured), which would have been the largest drop off if a healthy Baker doesnt put up literally record breaking numbers in his first 2 games this year.
You can deny my opinion and argue with me all you want, but you can't argue with the numbers. Baker had an even more significant drop-off from year 1 to year 2 then year 3 to year 4. You can make all the excuses you want, but you can't blame the (non-throwing) shoulder injury for the bad reads, the batted balls, or the inability to ever connect with OBJ. No matter how much you want Baker to be a franchise QB, he just isn't and there's no evidence to show that he ever can or will be.

......

seriously? are you just talking out of your ass? Baker literally has one of the strongest arms in the NFL, and is absolutely within the same category as Allen, and evidence shows is stronger than Allens.

I have no idea what you're getting at and I'm not one to kick a guy, while he's down, but if you need me to point it out, yes, Josh Allen is a harder worker, he's younger, he's bigger, he's more athletic, he has a stronger arm, he's more accurate, and he's shown more improvement than Baker Mayfield.

C'mon that's just laughable. Baker's arm isn't weak, but it isn't in Josh Allen's category, that's for sure.

Its not laughable do some damn research I know you can. Both of these guys have top 5 arms. saying Allen has a cannon of an arm while Baker doesnt is just flat wrong.

Baker literally has the longest completed pass (yards traveled in the air) on record in the NFL

Baker has a great arm when he sets his feet and leans into the throw. So about 10% of the time.

Go back and watch the 2018 Senior Bowl when both played. The difference is obvious. Allen’s arm is elite. Baker’s is good. Allen throws effortlessly while Baker has to put everything into his throws to get anywhere close to the same velocity.

Based on what?

The improvement he’s shown. It doesn’t just happen…
You can work your ass off at something and not improve much, improve at a slower rate than others, or have rate of improvement impacted by other factors (Ex: Significant injuries).

You have no idea how hard either guy works.
