Batman vs Superman spoilers thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
For those that were talking about RT versus IMDb, ratings on IMDb were 8.4/10, last I saw.

Regardless, I've had zero expectations of this film being any good for the last year. Seemed like they were trying way too hard to capture that Guardians of the Galaxy feel in their trailers, instead of letting it be its own thing.

At least Justice League looks good.

EDIT: I'm probably going to see it this weekend anyways.

Finally finished Dawn of Justice. Conclusion: Wonder Woman is fucking HOT. Like smoking.

Also the movie was not as bad as people were saying. I just didn't like how they made Lex Luthor. Didn't like the casting for him either. Also Doomsday was in it for like 20 minutes. Bummer. Hope they bring him back somehow.

Speaking of casting and character Ben Affleck was fucking awesome as Batman. Can't wait for the next Bat movie.

Music was on point. Was pretty badass. Did I mention Wonder Woman is hot? But anyways next on my list is probably shitty Suicide Squad that I will find illegally.

Watched the ultimate cut for the first time just now, immensely better movie in my opinion. I still don't understand how they stopped their beef over a name though lol.

So the Batman V Superman extender/ultimate edition leaked this week - downloading it now. But having already briefly read some reviews, the change seems unanimous. Bloggers/critics of whose original reviews canned the theatrical release have praised the additional 30 minutes as basically "the 30 minutes that was missing for this movie to actually make sense."

I've heard that a lot of Lex's character is explored in the extended cut. That was one of my biggest problems with the original release - Lex's motives weren't explained at all and you had no reason to believe that he was a "bad guy" for any reason other than knowing that he actually is a "bad guy." Looking forward to hopefully being given a reason to really enjoy this film.

Link please?!?!

Can someone tell me what was added to the extended cut? I didn't see the original version so I have no clue what was exactly cut

I still have yet to see the movie...but I was told that the extended cut what was missed in theatrical cut...the reason why they started to fight.

Umm of the top of my head. Lex exposition of his beliefs reasons and logic. Batman exposition about why he view supers as a threat and his flaws. Basically the plot

Jesus Christ they cut all of that out?! No wonder people thought it fucking sucked

Completely different editing and tone with added dialogue. Feels like a different movie, its long but it flows better than the standard version.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention the training montage that was completely out of no where and didn't really fit. If they wanted to cut something, it should have been that.

Also I just checked, Wonder Woman is still fucking hot

I thought the training was there for exposition.

The film is loosely based on Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns. The dream sequence, the Flash's message, Robin's death, Batman's age, are all indicative of the Miller trilogy's story arc.

The reason we see Batman training is because he's supposed to be 55 years old in the Miller arc; but we can assume in BvS that he's nearing 50 (Affleck is playing an older Batman).

So.. it's designed to demonstrate to the audience that Batman, even if he doesn't look it, is in peak physical condition due to constant training and exercise.

Still wish they would have just made a fucking Batman movie and gotten to the Batman/Superman stuff later. It was just way too much shit to cram into one film, especially a film that was basically an origin story for DC's new Batman and also Wonder Woman and Lex Luthor. I think they could have done without Doomsday entirely, as he really added nothing to the movie other than a pointless action scene and was really just a waste of an iconic Superman villain.

The absolute highlight of the movie was the Batman scene where he saved Superman's mom. More of that, please.

I think the approach was to simply avoid origins altogether; and, well, that's what they did.

Batman's origin is never really discussed in depth; nor is Wonder Woman's.. I mean, they are re-introduced but, beyond that, I think the film spent all of 5-7 minutes of run-time on this.

Doomsday kills Superman... So.... he's kind of necessary. In fact, Doomsday was invented solely to kill Superman and that's it; so, this is kind of in the spirit of the original comic.

Indeed...

I think you'll see Batman tone it down quite a bit in the Justice League films.

I totally got that. Just it was a bit awkward. Felt like a Rocky movie for a second.

By the way gouri watch The Dark Knight Returns movies. They're pretty damn good and I hear stay pretty true to the source.

Well, when I say origin story, I don't mean an entire movie devoted to how Bruce Wayne became Batman. We all know that, and it's not really needed at this point. However, a stand-alone Batman movie that establishes the new Batman character (he is, after all, quite different from Nolan's Batman) would have done wonders to help introduce us to the new DC universe, and also to Batman himself, without bogging it all down with so much other shit.

The same goes for Wonder Woman. A movie that actually builds her character would have been preferable to her just randomly showing up like she did in BvS. But it seems like DC had little interest in building their universe before throwing all the characters together, and I think it was obviously to the detriment of their film universe. They desperately wanted to catch up to Marvel, and fast, but they didn't realize that one of the main reasons that Marvel has been so successful is because they've had a plan and largely stuck to it, and have moved at their own pace. DC needs to realize that they don't need to catch Marvel. They just need to make better movies. No one is going to care if DC is ten movies behind Marvel is they're making movies just as good or better.

I get that, but I thought killing off Superman so early in the universe was stupid, especially since we all know he's not really dead, at least not permanently. There was no emotion behind Superman dying specifically for that reason. That's the kind of major death you utilize several movies in, not in the second fucking one.

I think you'll see Batman tone it down quite a bit in the Justice League films.

Which would be a shame, because Batman being a badass was about the only thing that made BvS watchable, at least in the theatrical cut. I haven't seen the extended one yet so I can't comment on it.
