Brandon Too GoodWIN Two Be True

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
My guess is that with Osman still out, they'll terminate Newman's 10-day when Garland comes back and keep Goodwin awhile longer. After that, they would likely have to replace Nembhard with Goodwin as the new two-way contract if they wanted to keep Pangos to use as potential trade filler.

What are people seeing here...? I don't get it. Goodwin isn't an NBA player. For one thing, he obviously can't shoot at all, he's another midget, and he's already 26. So far defenses haven't given a crap about him because they don't even know who he is, but if he gets more PT at some point, you can count on people starting to sag 10 feet off him.

The bar was set so low by Pangos that he makes Goodwin look like a solid point guard :celb (13):

I like his mentality. JBB got himself another bulldog to pet.

However, he is 26 years old and most likely a finished product. Don't mind him ad an insurance back up pg and a practice body, but don't expect too much of him imo.

Pangos sucks right now. But If he somehow found his balls and some of his dignity as well as his 3pt shot that he had in college and in the Euroleague, then he would be more serviceable than Brandon.

It's not far fetched... and this Cavs team need shooters.

I don't like this balding white boy, he seems to be comfortable where he is at, but his projection is better if he finds his shot.

He is a 3rd string pg. Those types of players are extremely flawed. You just need to have them in your team in situations like we have right now.

Fortunately, Goodwin fits with the type of game our lead guard needs to have. That is, a penetrator and distributor.

We don't need him to be Ricky's replacement. He is the back up to the back up. Lower your expectations.

He’s not pangos

Heat Check needs to start writing up draft profiles for the incoming prospects.

Yeah it looked bad.

He can penetrate. He's better at passing than Pangos in the paint with bounce passes to the bigs in my opinion.

Pangos is supposedly the shooter, so I still prefer Goodwin unless Pangos figure sit out and starts killing it from 3

Goodwin was shooting 34.1% from # in the G-league and has shot 38% from the arc during his G-league career. He's been less successful in the NBA, shooting only 30% form 3.

That's why G League stats don't matter.

This right here.

Somehow every damn team full of replacement players the Cavs have faced, has also found decent shooters. Or maybe it's just the Cavs defense.
The only thing I really see missing from Goodwin is something respectable from 3. He does score in other ways and create for himself which is something I can't say for bench players not named Kevin Love (or Cedi when available).

Goodwin can make a layup, Pangos can't seem to

When it comes to third string PGs... you need a leader on the court who can distribute the ball and it seems like he fits that. Also it is a team game and if he is in rhythm with the team then that's a good guy to have. Yes he won't improve anymore but we may need his mentality at the end of the day. Let's see how well he plays out his 10 day contract (plus hopefully a second one) and if he is still doing well, then keep him for the season with maybe a partial guarantee for next season...

I am not saying there aren't better prospects. Sykes was a really good defender at least against Pangos and Goodwin.. He is even shorter and statistically worse., but had a pretty good game, 10pts and 5 assists..

But Goodwin is an upgrade to Pangos, and would be cheap..

I don't think the rules allow this but the NBA should change them so guys that are currently on 10 day contracts can be added to two way contracts. With the huge influx of 10 day contract players, I'm sure alot of NBA teams would reevaluate their two way players to provide on going depth for the rest of the season.

The order really should be two 10 day contracts then sign to a two way deal, once your NBA days are max out on the two way deal then a team needs to open up a roster spot if they want to keep playing him.
