OBR mentioned that they too are hearing the Browns are trying to move up. I’d suspect for a CB or WR if I was a betting man.

If the Browns are shooting for a super bowl they should go swinging for the fences... Clowney could and I think will have much more impact this year than Richardson would/could have. Potential Clowney > Richardson... No playing it safe trying to win a super bowl.

We're probably weighing trade-up possibilities to see if we can get someone like Horn or Surtain. We have 9 draft picks and a borderline championship roster - no way are we drafting 9 rookies.

Unrealistic dream scenario:

Trade a 1st, and a 4th for Hunter.

Garrett/Clowney/Billings/Hunter as our starters on the d-line, with Gustin/Jackson/Elliot/Takk as backups.

Sign someone like Sherman in FA, and draft BPA (LB/CB/S) with #59, #89, #91.

Ward/Sherman/Hill and Greedy + draft picks as our CBs, maybe a roster cut or two for depth. Harrison/Delpit/Johnson + draft pick.

Assuming Woods is the guy - our defense would be top 7.

I agree. The window is now. We’re in a perfect situation right now with so many guys still on their rookie deals.

He’s not a hack. But I have my doubts about a deal being “big”. Maybe a trade up or resigning Richardson.

I could see a trade up. I feel like if we’re making a big trade it’s for someone like Lattimore. He’s a UFA at the end of the year and Saints might have to tag him in order to keep him. From the looks of it, NO will be over the cap again once they sign their picks, so they might be willing to move someone like Lattimore.

Don’t know what it’d take to trade for him. I would hope our 2nd is enough given his contract situation. Would pretty much have to come with an extension to make it worth our while.

Hunter would obviously classify as a big move, but he’s going to want a new contract in the range of Myles’. I don’t think we can afford to be paying him that much with who we need to re-sign.

I take OBR with a grain of salt, but if the Browns were to move up, it’s probably for Surtain or Horn. I think if we were to trade up it would be with Philadelphia or Minnesota based off Berry and Stefanski’s prior connections.

If we trade up, I'd be shocked if it wasn't specifically for Horn.

Surtain is not the type of player you trade up for.

can you explain this?
I don't think Surtain does anything special enough to warrant a trade-up. You can get players with his skillset by sitting back and picking in the draft. He's not a one-time prospect that you can't miss.

I still don't think we'll trade up, but if we did, someone like Horn has rare traits that you can't find often. A perfect 10.00 RAS, with the type of production he put up, against perhaps the best gauntlet of NFL receiver talent anyone's ever faced? A lot of NFL scouts might have Horn ranked as the best CB prospect since Ramsey... which likely puts him as the #2 CB prospect this millenium.

Basically, if you want someone who can be solid and reliable, either in the slot or outside, that's something you happily draft, but don't mortgage the future for. If you think Horn is a truly generational talent, who will be available later than he should because of rare conditions (The way COVID affected the draft, the amount of talent at the top with QBs, Pitts, Sewell, etc) then you pull the trigger.
