How would you rate our offseason if we come away with any two of Stephon Gilmore, Marshon Lattimore, JJ Watt, or Von Miller?

I think the most you would have to give up for any one of them is a 2nd round pick. You might be able to get one of them for a 3 or 4 depending on how the situations play out with their teams.

They would all fill a need.
Von Miller would worry me with his possible off field issues keeping him off the field. Along with being out all last year.

gilmore would be my top choice. Our secondary is god awful. He’s better than lattimore but I have a feeling with his age lattimore is going to cost a lot. But I’d be ok with that.

I think I would be okay with any of them if the price is right. Price gotta be right though.

If you're asking "Hypothetically, if we trade both our second rounders for Stephon Gilmore and JJ Watt, how would you rate those moves?" then my answer would be a D. Those sound like awful, short-sighted moves.

I don't expect Berry to do anything like that.

You have two assets--money and draft capital. I see no reason to give up both of those for an older veteran player. You turn draft capital into young talent that's cheap. You use your money to acquire the veterans to fill in the gaps in your roster. Don't blow your whole wad on a dude with a name.

We only have one 2nd round pick this year. We have two 3rd round picks though.

But If we can get Gilmore for a 2nd then I don't think Watt will cost more than a 3rd.

I actually think the going rate for all four of them is as low as it's has been. Gilmore is coming off of a major injury now and he's in a contract year. Lattimore is also in a contract year and he has some injury concerns too. Von Miller is coming off of a major injury but I think it's more likely that he gets cut in March rather than be traded and he's older and might be having off the field issues. JJ Watt is also in a contract year and he's older with some injury concerns.

I don't think we need to give up a 2nd to get any of them. I think the most that any of them will command is a 2nd round pick but due to the reasons I listen I believe you can get any of them for less than that.

We do have two 3rd round picks and I feel confident that we can have any of them for a 3rd. All four of them would fill a huge need and walk in as a starter opposite Denzel or Myles.

Whoops, good catch. Since "how do you grade these moves" depends solely on what is being given up, I went with your top-end suggested value of a second round pick.

I think you're falling in love with a name, rather than what the player can actually contribute on the field next year.

Bingo.

Andrew Berry isn't buying a year of an asset for a 2nd round pick. Complete antithesis of how this franchise has begun to operate.

If these guys are going for a 4th round pick, of which the Browns have two, I'd imagine they get interested.

Not really. There's other pass rushers and CB's who I would have liked for us to get. I just think the four guys I listed wouldn't come at a high cost or have a huge impact on future moves. I don't think any of them would break the bank or command a lot of draft capital.

That leaves us with flexibility to make a larger move if we need or wanted too.

it's more likely that he simply gets cut. Bingo.

And with Von Miller the key date is March 9th. He has to be cut by then or DEN is likely keeping him. So while we can trade for him it's more likely that he simply gets cut.

George Patton is The Broncos new GM though and he just came from MIN. Not saying that there's a deal to be made there but if their is one I'm sure we could probably get it done of we really wanted to.

But he's gonna get cut so it doesn't matter.

JJ Watt doesn't have any guaranteed money left on his deal. The only reason a trade is likely for him is because HOU lacks draft capital and it makes more sense for them to get something instead of letting him go for nothing. I actually think that now that they will for sure be trading Watson and getting a haul for him a team could probably sneak in and get Watt for a late 3rd or 4th round pick. His value is really being pumped up on name recognition. If we're being honest about him he's not worth a pick in the top 75. It helps to be a team with multiple 3rd and 4th round picks though.

There’s gonna be a new alternate uniform next year too!
