Hurts is going to be a career long back up in the NFL.

I mean, he's basically the prototype for the modern NFL mobile QB. He's big, fast, and was accurate in college. He may not pan out, because realistically most QB prospects don't and he's in a shit situation, but he's definitely the right blend of athleticism and actual QB ability.

Don't see it with him as a passer whatsoever.

Think he's pretty much in the mold of Macus Mariota, not a great passer but has pretty great legs.

Hard not to laugh at the plurality of people who drop takes like that, but melted down for literally months when someone evaluated a particular Browns QB as having a ceiling that is average or slightly above.

I'll give Hurts a chance to actually play a little bit, instead of the standard boring hot takes about how he'll only be a backup.

Cowherd has had a greater impact on the average fan than most probably realize.

He definitely doesn't have the arm talent of guys like Mahomes or Rodgers, or even Mayfield. But if he can get his accuracy under control, that coupled with his athleticism could make for a solid or better NFL QB.

It's hard to take much away from the few games he played last year given the dearth of talent around him.

the issue is he just doesnt have the natural feel of the passing game you need in NFL QB. You are absolutely correct that on paper he is fantastic looking, but ultimately there is a reason he wasnt a highly rated QB prospect.

Some people know how to evaluate QB play, and others think Josh Rosen is an elite QB prospect.

The place someone was drafted doesn't tell us a whole lot, especially when there's bias involved. There were also draft pundits out there who had Hurts as a first-round QB last year.

Ultimately, there is a reason Dak Prescott wasn't a highly-rated QB prospect. Ultimately, there is a reason Russell Wilson wasn't a highly-rated QB prospect. Ultimately, there is a reason Tom Brady wasn't a highly-rated QB prospect. Ultimately, there's a reason every other team passed on Aaron Rodgers before Green Bay...

The list goes on. It's a crutch argument. You can put Jalen's college numbers up against anyone and he's not that far behind. Here's him vs Baker:

The dude is mobile, accurate, coachable and a leader. I'm not betting against him. He'll likely struggle in Philly with their lack of offensive line, and coaching regime changes. He might even fail. But I'm not going to quickly dismiss him.

Everyone has bad takes. Nobody gets it right.

To pretend that anyone on here "knows how to evaluate QB play" is just disingenuous. It's hard as shit to evaluate, and nobody gets it right consistently.

I'll give credit to the people who can actually admit their mistakes.
