no way this could be true. A 2nd on top of that is way too much.
Yeah...
No way they dish a 2nd for Old Man River.
Another 4th maybe.

I think if we’re paying 97 or 115 + a 2021 2nd for Trent, we’d be getting another rostered player or a different mid round pick back from WASYeah...

Although Twitter is likely the top source for breaking sports news, it's also largely ruined creditable sports journalism. The race for first has shoved truth and accuracy out the window.I mean, it’s her Twitter, not an article. No problem with it. She’s a beat writer who gets fed some stories and occasionally is first with a signing or news. Not a hard hittingcolumnist or investigative reporter.
I am wondering if the Trent Williams rumors are a back up scenario.
Maybe the Browns would take Wirfs, Wills or Thomas if they are there. If not, then they get Williams and either take someone else with 10 or trade down.
I think Williams is an option if one of the "big 4" are not selected (ignoring the fact i dont think they want all 4). Cleveland, Jones, and Jackson are all at the end of the day project picks, even if they are highly rated. I could absolutely see a world where the browns trade for Williams to become starter this year while one of the other guys learns behind him. Then after next year Williams walks. However I agree i see no way the browns give up anything more than a late 3rd or early 4th. This talk of a draft pick next year is absolutely ridiculousMaybe I’ll end up being totally wrong here, but I simply cannot see Andrew Berry and Paul DePodesta ever trading a top 60 pick in any draft (in this case a 2021 2nd) for a 32 year old who hasn’t played a full season in 6 years, hasn’t played period in 16 months and wants to get a new contract at the top 5 for his position.
Just cannot see anything close to that much compensation. Not for a front office that clearly values draft picks as much as this one and is in a position to acquire a LT in the draft on a 5-year contract at a fraction of the price.
Trent Williams, to me, is the third option. The backup plan to the backup plan.
Option 1 is acquire one of the top OTs at 10. IMO for the Browns that’s Wirfs or Thomas.
Option 2 is trading back from 10 and acquiring a tier 2 OT like Cleveland (probably), Jones or Jackson in the bottom half of the first round.
Option 3 is not taking a young OT at all and then acquiring Williams for light compensation. I would imagine that any possible Trent Williams trade involving the Browns wouldn’t happen until after tonight’s first round and the Browns have had a chance to see how everything has fleshed out.

I thought physicals have stopped as of now.If we’re going to do a Trent trade you gotta do it before the draft and get a physical. No way we do it during the draft without looking at his medical.
Gronk just had his done by an independent physician agreed on by the Bucs and Pats.I thought physicals have stopped as of now.
I just cannot envision a scenario where the Browns are comfortable giving up a top 100 pick for a guy who will play 1 year and then leave.
Conversely, I can't imagine Williams is going anywhere without a new contract.
If the Browns pick up Trent Williams, he is the starting LT for at least 2020 and 2021. There's no other way around it that's realistic.
