Caitlin will be a superstar. The league will capitalize all over that shit as they should.

If there are haters of hers outside of dumbass Sheryl Swoopes, I don’t know them.

I said I don’t KNOW them, doesn’t mean they aren’t out there. She’s easy to like. She nails shots, makes plays no woman has ever made, she’s mostly quiet, pretty off the radar personality wise. She inspires little girls to ball.

If the haters show up for her, it’s good for the game because it will bring more eyes.

I’m saying what’s equally good for the game will be the people that hate on Angel Reese though. When people watch the Warriors they pay to see Curry, but they watch to see what Dray is gonna do next (getting past his prime though) bc you can’t predict that.

Hope they keep plugging away with Angel and that she just scares the shit out of people.

From a purely business standpoint it’s silly to hate on Caitlin or Larry Bird or Tiger Woods.

Tiger enriched everybody on the PGA Tour because he drew new fans that pulled massive additional money into the sport. Same with Larry / Magic, LeBron, Steph and now Caitlin. And Joe Namath, for that matter.

But some in the WNBA community will hate Caitlin for the same reason IT hated Larry. They’re jealous bitches.

Doesn‘t matter. Hate the rainmaker all you want; everybody loves to drink the water.

What’s weird about the Caitlin “controversy” is that many past arguments over women’s sports stem from one player receiving money and attention because of physical appearance, not sports accomplishments. Golf had Jan Stevenson and her legs grace the cover of the official magazine and that upset another player who didn’t like that focus even if it did increase revenue. Later Anna Kournikova attracted similar attention (and controversy). In this case it appears to be jealousy based on sports accomplishments or pure “player hating.”

Very impressive that a female athlete is putting asses in seats in gyms and in front of screens based on athletics not what we used to call “sex appeal”. I generally don’t watch women’s sports because it’s just not up to the men’s level due to biology but Caitlin Clark has Steph range and is well worth watching imho. And I must admit watching her play that the level of women’s play is far superior to what I expected. She’s going to help the WNBA a LOT and even the haters are going to have higher salaries once she gets going there.

The interesting part about Clark is she is literally the only one to come down the pike to perhaps generate eyeballs on the WNBA since it’s inception ….Theres an anticipation about her unlike anyone else and that speaks volumes…

The novelty of the WNBA wore off before the turn of the century. After that 1996 Olympics women’s title run that featured a lot of the stars of that league’s infancy in 97– there wasn’t much to hold onto…

Franchises folding and relocating every season in addition to the caliber of player not being able to carry the league like that initial group did and overall just bad play resulted in an unwatchable product…

From Holdsclaw to Bird to Taurasi to Parker to Griner etc…. There’s not been someone as captivating as Clark to generate the buzz…

What’s even more wild was Kobe endorsed her game before any of this hype….Guaranteed if Kobe was still around the hype around her would be even greater from her contemporaries just due to how he is revered….

Hopefully she doesn’t submit to the pressure to take that league to the next level — but she’s definitely the one to do it….

Yeah, it's interesting that after the excitement of its inception, and the dominance of Cooper and the Comets in the formative years of the late 90s, it's been downhill in terms of rating and interest ever since. I think Cooper still holds a number of records even though it's been more than a quarter century since her best years.

Perhaps not coincidentally, that's also around the time I started to lose interest. I was a teenager in the early years and was pretty excited about the women's new league. There weren't any negative stereotypes yet, I thought I would grow to be taller than 5-2 and would dominate the league in the future, and things were pretty fun then. But Cooper retired, I stopped growing, I found I was better at academics anyway, and my interest thus dropped in the early 21st century. That's around the time I started to see some of the negative stereotypes as well.

Anyway, I'll be rooting for Clark. She's a way better passer and can shoot even deeper than my small butt could!
