Cavs @ Celtics Game 1 Round 2

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So the question is, why do we continue to roll with coach brown? The front office has to be watching these games and wonder whats going on from an offensive stand point.

Next season we either need a new coach or bring in someone that can help with the offense. Its inexcusable we have gone so long playing this way on the offensive end.

Mike Brown apparenly thought it was okay for 100% of lebrons shot attempts to be created by himself starting from beyond the three point line.

What happened to running bron off screens so he can get the ball on the move or *gasp, closer to the basket.

This game reminded me of the San Antonio series where the other team put a blanket on lebron and dared anybody else to beat them...it didn't happen.
We've been the same thing all year.

Where is Lebron off the ball?
Where is the pick and roll with Z and boobie to set up Lebron?
where was Lebron in the post?
Where was trying Lebron on the screener?

These have all been tried in the past. They seem to work and boom we don't use.

Look Lebron sucked tonight and we blew a couple of chances. Z was definitely good tonight but he also blew a couple of wide open jumpers. Oh well This is one of those games I wish we had a true second superstar but this is the exact same crap we said after Game 5 and countless other games. Just don't understand this offense

It's promising, the fact this game was this close. Two quality defensive teams we have here. Still, I expect higher scores for the rest of the series.

About LeBron, when will someone in the organization realize, since our coaching staff won't, that as he has gotten larger in size since his rookie year, and that he is just too bulky a body now these last few years, or even longer than that probably, to play a Isolation and/or as a PG, outside the arc so damn often? Opposing teams have been seeing the same exact offensive plan from him, ever since he's been in the league, could someone please give this 23 year old kid some direction as to how to transition his game, to the betterment of his team's offense? Or is he in an island, by himself for him to do this, for as long as he is a Cavalier?

It really shows now, especially when you play a very good perimeter defense like Boston, that it's just too much work for him to do this, game after game. And he clearly gets frustrated on the court too easily nowadays.

Of course, I've posted enough tirades about this, so I need not go further once again..... don't feel like it for once

Still, the series seems hopeful, as long as Mike Brown learns his lesson for the millionth time, and uses our savior as he is made to be, and plans his offensive strategy on LeBron getting the ball inside the arc (of course, asking for MB to use him in the post would be way too much to expect..) . Our D is there, just sick of this offense that relies on randomness and LeBron having to do what he isn't really suited for.

Thats it guys....We lose and we now need to turn around because tomorrow is a new game and new chance to steal one game there and take home court adventage.....

Thinking about how the series was going to play out prior to Game 1, I felt that Boston would win the first game, with the Cavs having a good chance to win Game 2. I felt it was pretty important that Cleveland win one of the first two in Boston to have a chance at winning the series.

Well, after watching the game last night, I think they may have missed their chance. They held Boston to 41% shooting, the Celtics committed 23 TOs, and Allen/Pierce combined for 4 points (all three of which probably won't happen again, let alone in the same game). And after all of that, the Cavs still couldn't capitalize. If I am Boston, here is what I am thinking:

"Well, we played the worst game we could probably play, but wait. What's that you say? Even thought we sucked ass, the Cavs only shot 30%, LeBron James was 2-18, and Joe Smith guarded KG 1 on 1 at the end of the game. How lucky we are! Even though we played as bad as we possibly could, the Cavs played worse! It must be destiny! Boo-Yah!"

I could certainly see the Celtics realizing that they really got away with one, channeling that feeling, and coming out in Game 2 and taking it to the Cavs. Something tells me that Boston could end up winning Game 2 by 12-15 points or so.

At the same time, I realize that the Cavs probably won't shoot as bad as they did for the rest of this series, and I certainly don't expect LeBron to play as poorly as he did. I was happy to see Mike Brown utilize Z as much as he did, and hope that continues. I also thought that the refs were horribly inept, but they were inept for both sides. I think that contributed some to the lack of offensive flow for both teams. Sasha gave a solid 14 minutes off of the bench, and the Cavs' defense was consistently good for most of the game.

So we'll see what happens in Game 2. Like I said above, Boston may realize that they really didn't deserve to win Game 1, and could end up going crazy in Game 2. However, if the Cavs play as well defensively as they did in Game 1, their offense should improve, and it could be another close finish.

I hate games like this..even played in games like this ticked me off.
Seeing James struggle and force things was bad enough but to see NO ADJUSTMENTS is even worse.

Brown has to make adjustments AND NOT just watch his offense struggle..
Move James to the wing-low block..put the ball in West's hands and funnel it to James..
RUN SOME FREAKING SCREENS to free up your men..good grief..

You guys making excuses for Lebron last night sound like the Celtics fans who were justifying going to 7th game against a 37-win team.

He played like complete garbage last night. And has Pip said, he was CALLING for high screen pick and roles. Lebron is allowed to deviate from the offensive gameplan if he choses. He just chose to settle.

Mike Brown did not go 2-18, Mike Brown did not commit 10 turnovers, Mike Brown did not get in foul trouble (two of Lebron's fouls were utterly stupid).

Some of you guys are so scared to say anything negative about Lebron....

Lebron played horribly and he started at the same places on the court he normally does. Not Mike Brown's fault. The players run the play to get Lebron the ball. But Lebron chooses to stop the play and go isolation. I believe that since is the case about 50-60 of the time on the offensive end that the team is comfortable waiting on a double team and then play off of that. If no double team comes then Lebron has the advantage against anyone. I feel that is the reasoning.

The problem is that (it was mentioned before) is that when Lebron is up at the 3point line and asks for a screen then he is creating the double team but is not passing out of it quick enough or he is not looking to pass to the other non-screeners. Instead he still tries to get through the double team first and only when he is trapped he attempts to pass to the screener.

Lebron will learn hopefully that as soon as the double team is recognized then pass the ball. You do not have to be the guy that gets the assist or makes the play that scores the ball. You can get the Hockey assist or the 3rd assist. Its great that he wants to be Magic at times but Magic got alot of assists on the fast break and not breaking down his man 1 or 1 necessarily.

I say let Delonte West loose. Any time a player is calling for a screen then thats a bad play. The play should have already been called. Too many times Delonte/Lebron held the ball for a few seconds just to call for a screen. Why not incorporate that in a play? Whenever that happens, the other 3 players seem not to have correct spacing or do anything else except stand around. If a play is run with a screen and roll, then the other 3 players should slide around, cut in and out or something. At least one of the 3 players should be actively looking to get open and not just waiting for their man to help.

Sam Cassell and Rondo killed West who also didnt play good on offense...We really need West and Ben to play good D and LBJ to play his game if we want to win tomorrow.....I really think that we can beat them in this series....

I disagree that Cassell and Rondo killed West. West played great D ESPECIALLY after the first quarter. He forced about half dozen turnovers in the game just by himself with his activity. He was pretty pesky and did a great job helping out on the rebounds and scrums. Rondo had a great first quarter but it was helped by two questionable calls to get him to the free throw line and then Garnett making post fall away jumpers to get Rondo his assists. In addition, Rondo got a couple easy buckets/assists in transition. West was obviously told to go under screens which allowed Rondo to get a running start on his drives. That was corrected after the first quarter.

Cassell played almost exclusively save for one mid range jumper in the first half against Boobie. Cassell and Rondo weren't on the floor together at all. However, West and Boobie were on the floor together for about 11 minutes and in those 11 minutes Boobie guarded Rondo while West guarded Ray Allen, Pierce or Posey. Delonte, Sasha and Wally played great defense on Ray Allen during the game and saying Delonte played horribly is completely wrong.

To complain about defense in this game is just completely ...well dumb! Cavs played great defense. Even Joe Smith/Big Ben getting abused by the moves of Garnett you could argue did all they could.

Gibson is a tremendous defensive liability. I dont know how much better he is from Djones honestly. He gets beat consistantly and teams are starting to figure it out. Dwest had the worst game I have seen him play..Missed layups a pass that went right thru his hands. Sometimes he seems like he just doesnt get it..
