Cavs summer league team

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I gotta say that I have never seen a player as crazy as Sexton. That passion is insane... Westbrook is a homeless man's version in that regard.
I can't wait for the first Cavs/Lakers game when Sexton makes Ball piss his pants with this defense:

Honestly I'm half expecting him to punt on this season. Lakers start off 2-8, Lebron goes down with "knee soreness" for 20 games and they're 6-23 when he returns. He says a bunch of nice words about how they have a lot of young guys learning to fit together, how it's a new experience being on a young rebuilding team, etc etc and they coast to a 30-52 record. Then, next summer they try again with their reload. I don't think he's going to kill himself trying to drag a shit roster to the playoffs in the West. That's not why he went to LA.

Dude probably wants to get to 40k points for his career. He's not going to take any time off. I see his shooting percentage going down this year and shots going up. I can see him having a triple double for the season. Unless the media completely changes the way they see him just because he's not in Cleveland anymore, they're going to criticize him for stat padding. The same guys who praise Westbrook...

Don't underestimate the power of big-market media. They'll absolutely suck the dick of LBJ all year.

So will Boston/East Coast media because now LBJ is in the other conference, and they get to slobber all over the possibility of a Lakers/Celtics finals.

Barf.

When I saw him start the flex last night I am thinking to myself "what in the hell is he doing"
This was a freakin Summer League game ! Playing 4 games in 4 nights

Can you imagine him in this situation in a playoff game, a game 7 ?

His passion is insane and I am betting it will be contagious. How can you play with him and mail it in

That pic above should be put up somewhere in the corridor coming out of the lockerroom

That is what the new Cavs should be about

You can’t love sports and not love this kids desire. Hell, if he was selling steak knives I’d love the kids enthusiasm. If he doesn’t pan out and become a perennial all star, I have no doubt it will be because he simply doesn’t have the talent. It won’t be for lack of effort. You can already see he’s going to struggle with his shot, and he’s going to get himself into some bad spots with his aggrsssion, so it might be a few years before he’s a truly efficient player, but he’ll be trying every day to get there. These type of kids never bother you if they fail to get to the mountaintop and they’re a joy to watch. The ones with all the talent in the world and bad work ethics are the ones that are irritating. This kid isn’t ever going to be irritating in that way.

That sounds really bad for his legacy...

I think he's too old to take a year off. It's VERY hard to maintain the level he showed last year, but it's EVEN HARDER to take time off and then return to it the following year since he's in his mid-30s now.

No one beats Father Time. No one.

Don't know what options he has, though. Unless the Lakers have a big trade or two lined up, they're probably not a playoff team unless LeBron plays all 82 games again and is even better than he was last year. That's a tough ask, even from him. Does it look better to try really hard and miss the playoffs? I'm not sure...

Honestly though, he was not passing to NBA players either. Could have had a lot more assists if he was dishing to Love, nance, cedi or zizic.
He has some rough edges that need polished but like you said, his work ethic is off the chart...and he is 19

I guarantee you he will be in the gym today.

If the refs give LeBron the Harden calls this year, then he'll make the playoffs easily with last year's effort. Even in the West.

Lets not forget that last year's effort was not all that impressive to those of us who watched every game. He played no defense in the regular season. Sure, he played all 82, but he was also the slowest player in the league by a long shot.

So this year he's going to lead the league in minutes again, have even higher usage on offense, and play great defense too? I'm on the LeBron-for-GOAT bandwagon as much as anyone, but I just don't think he's physically capable of that. If he manages to carry this team to the playoffs he deserves the MVP no matter how much help he's getting from the refs.

I actually feel like that team isn't too bad. Lakers fans are severely overrating them but they actually had solid chemistry last year when they were healthy and have depth at every position. The question marks are going to be the headcases. But LeBron has been fairly good at dealing with them. Outside of Love (and I shudder to say this), that Lakers roster was actually better than ours last year in terms of sheer production, cohesion and defense.

LeBron's not joining last year's Lakers, though. They've lost Nance (their best player by RPM last year), and Randle (their third best player by RPM last year) and replaced them with JaVale McGee and Moritz Wagner. Their only real hope, IMO, is that all of their young guys simultaneously take the leap and become average or good NBA players right away, which is possible but unlikely.

Nope, that's NOT what I'm saying.

He can probably play the same minutes as last year (remember, LeBron controls his minutes, not his coaches), and ZERO defense, but be better off because the refs will probably give him Harden type calls in LA.

If last-year's LeBron were to get Harden calls, he'd single-handedly destroy regular season teams on many nights with the way he controls the pace of a game.

I'm NOT on the LeBron-for-GOAT bandwagon anymore (I'm not anti-LeBron either). If he ends up the consensus GOAT, good for him. I'm not against it, but I'm not invested in it anymore either.

All that I'm saying is that if LeBron were to give similar effort to last year, AND get superstar calls from the refs, then he'll easily make the playoffs.

I was impressed with that Josh Hart guy, great pick at #30.

Last year's Cavs would've had the 10th-best scoring differential in the West. Even if LeBron maintains his high minutes, and more favorable refereeing completely cancels out any age-related decline, he'll probably need to get more help this year from his supporting cast to make the playoffs. That seems unlikely.
