Exactly. I don’t understand the negativity about him around here. Maybe left over from his early years when people expected him to be a high level starter
Lol Yea he is no prize but he is a nice rotation player. Cedi can come in, once in a while, and change the outcome of a game. I watched every game last year and there are a few games I can attribute our victories to Cedi.

Cedi is one of our worst 3 pt shooters.... thought he would be higher on this list. Lamar better than him.

These kind of differences mean little this early in the season. Cedi will likely end up around his career average of 34-35% from 3 this season, or a bit below league average. I’d also note his overall true shooting percentage of 55% which is even with Darius Garland and higher than Caris Levert (actually higher than Caris has ever posted since his rookie year, but that’s another story).

Cedi is a walking, talking generic NBA league average. Height, wingspan, true shooting percentage... just average everyone in the league and give him a vaguely Mediterranean complexion.

And while everyone here is tired of his streakiness, that's not the worst thing in the world for a guy making a million less than the NBA league average.

I don’t think people are tired because of the streakiness, though it definitely contributes. The biggest frustration with both he and Love is that they’re just awful defenders, so if they aren’t hitting shots it totally fucks us over because both have to sit and we’re forced to shorten the rotation even more. If they were adequate defenders it wouldn’t be such a big deal because there’s other thing they can continue offensively, but the defense is so bad it can’t offset a poor shooting night.

LeVert’s actually kind of the perfect example. He’s a streaky player as well, but even when his shot isn’t falling he’s playing hard on defense, rebounding, and looking to create for others.

He’s a bench player at the one position where even our starters are well below average so I’d say league average is pretty awesome!

He’s probably a somewhat below average defender though

I defend LeVert a lot around here, but I'm also aware that he isn't living up to his current salary. The crux of my pro-Cedi stance is that yes, he is probably a good bang for your buck player. He's a hot deal at Marc's and the West Coast version: Grocery Outlet Bargain Market.

You dislike him more than Okoro or LeVert? I respect your opinion as you are a RCF OG but- Cedi has contributed to actual victories. He is inconsistent as fuck- but there are far worse culprits to fan misery.

I'm sorry but when LeVert dropped 45 or w/e who contributed to that victory to beat Boston?

Cedi doesn't compete on defense and for a guy who is supposed to be a "shooter" he doesn't shoot very well.

He doesn't rebound at all.

Let another 33% 3 point shooter come in here and shoot 5 3s in 20 minutes and they're bound to occasionally get hot too.

Cedi is not inconsistent. He is consistently a bad player. He can occasionally get hot but any halfway competent shooter that the coaching staff gives the green light to can do that.

People WAY overrated his shooting.

Garbage player. Garbage effort. Garbage IQ.

Now that i'm firmly entrenced on the West Coast after living the majority of my life in CLE - put some respect on Grocery Outlet's name! GO is what Marc's aspires to be, but will never ever match up to.

I feel like fans really overrate what alternatives are out there for players making as much as Cedi. If you make $8M per, you have flaws, or serious injury concerns, or both. I'd trade him in the right deal, but if you're replacing him with another sub MLE guy next summer, well there's a reason that player is available on that contract.

Cedi started off the season so hot too.

But Mitchell shooting 9 per game @ 42.9% is absurd efficiency.

Klay Thompson's most efficient season where he shot 8+ threes was their 73-9 season. He shot 8.1 threes at 42.5%.

For a team that pushes the ball as slow as molasses the one thing that Cedi does is play fast and push the ball.
He is a good passer and one of the only players who will make the crosscourt pass and do it accurately.
He's also finishing way better this year. He is in a shooting slump now and he is wildly inconsistent with his shot.
I'm not sure but i think his plus minus is the best on the team by quite a bit as well.
He's a guy you play 15-20 minutes a game,,,if he's on you give him more minutes, if not you take him out.

Hey you are correct. Vert did win us that Boston game. He also won another one against Indy last year early in his tenure here. Also, LeVert has played well this past week. He has this uncanny ability to play well right when all hope is lost. If he can continue this then fuck it- he can stay.

Did anyone know we have the best player in the NBA on the roster? Why are scrubs like Garland (#106) and Mitchell (#107) getting more shots than him?

In terms of +/- Cedi ranks 22nd in the NBA.com stats at +5.5. Allen is 16th at +6.0. Mitchell, Wade, Garland, and LeVert rank 30, 31, 35, and 36. Cedi also ranks higher than guys like Paul George, Brook Lopez, Devin Booker, Giannis, and Jaylen Brown. Obviously he's not in the class of those players but the point is he's helping the Cavs a lot when he's on the court.

I think JBB deserves some credit because when he sees Cedi is off his game he gets him out of there quickly. There was a recent game where Cedi only played seven minutes. But when Cedi makes his first shot JBB leaves him in and he has games like against Utah where he scored 22 points.
