Deserves a shot at the starting SF spot, kinda rounding into a pretty nice player.

I actually don't think he should be a starter, even though he's been my favorite Cavalier since he was drafted. I think his game is best suited for energy off the bench (especially when Ricky comes back) with Love. He seems to have improved his catch-and-shoot ability (don't know if thats backed up by stats), but I think his pushing the ball and playing with reckless abandon is a bench benefit more than a starting thing.
I kinda agree but I’m starting to think it balances the rotation better if Cedi starts. I don’t think he‘s a great fit with LeVert off the bench and Cedi seems to have great chemistry with Mitchell, he’d give the starting unit much better spacing. I know he’s an up and down player but I think he’s been showing a little more consistency this season. If he can’t get it going for a particular game then maybe you just pull him and the bench will have a lot of options depending on the matchup.I actually don't think he should be a starter, even though he's been my favorite Cavalier since he was drafted. Came in here to say that I was thinking anecdotally from game viewings that Cedi is finishing at the run better than at any time in his career.
I went to his career stats and he is. He has his highest 2P FG% of his career at 62.5%. He plays like a true modern analytic player with almost 100% of his shots either 3P or at the rim.
But it’s nice to see the stats back up what we’ve been seeing. I’ve never felt more confident in Cedi on the fast break and finishing at the rim and he has become quite good(or just better) at finding the right angle to get the ball where it needs to be on for a made layup.
They now can change in a heartbeat but right now, looking at his contract next year, he is a freaking steal. He also might end up by trade deadline/this coming summer as the Cavs players outside the top4 with the most positive trade value, as some teams may envision him as a starting SF and/or want to get his rights for an in season early extension.
Either way, and I know @Rich is going to coming in to wisely preach skeptical caution when it comes to Cedi, I feel like he’s having his best all around year as a pro and is *gasp* maybe even become a little more consistent/reliable
Once Rubio is back, the occasional playmaking spark Cedi provides is unnecessary. Although his 2P% is up this season, his 3P is surprisingly at the second lowest in his 6 year career.Yeah it has me questioning how we can get "more of what we need" by trading him. His vibes are immaculate and I am totally with you. We used to expect him to miss those point blank shots on the run all the time.
He has gotten better and he is not getting the credit for it
I think Cedi would have pretty decent trade value - he's productive, versatile and in the prime of his career. The problem would be value in return. If it was a 1 for 1 trade I don't think we can get a better player for a similar price. He's pretty dang cheap next year at under 7 million. Maybe he could serve as a "sweetener" as part of a larger trade?Yeah it has me questioning how we can get "more of what we need" by trading him. His vibes are immaculate and I am totally with you. So while I’m not necessarily clamoring to trade him and currently like his role in the rotation for this year and possibly next year, I think if you do replace him it’s for someone who is equal or better than him in catch and shoot/spit up 3P shooting and superior to him in half court defense and focus/sticking to defensive assignment more consistently.
Cedi alone or + Windler would allow you to trade for someone making anywhere between 6M-15MYeah I mean I get it. I just wonder how you can actually upgrade with such a cheap contract. Does Levert and Osman go out for someone who is better than both, but maybe overpaid at almost 30M?
That is also sending out maybe your 4th and 5th best playmaker? What JB has stated he wants for the offense is for every guy to be able to playmaker a little bit.
As it stands right now, I think I would be more adverse to sending out Osman who fits great than sending out Caris who needs more specific circumstances.
