In the context of the post you're replying to, I believe that maximizing assets is always important. As a life-long fan of this team, I obviously care about their success this season, but I also care deeply about this franchise beyond just this season. If there's a deal out there involving LeVert that may hurt us a little this year but improves our chances the next few years, I'm absolutely considering it.
I understand that you're not a Cavs fan but that you are particularly high on them this season, and have put your money where your mouth is. And for what it's worth, I do appreciate the love for our boys. But I'm guessing that the majority of us on this board are tempering our expectations for this particular season, yet have gigantic hopes and dreams for the next half decade or so given how young our core dudes are. I don't think LeVert has shown enough to make us confident that he is a core piece going forward. And if that means he may walk next offseason, then I'm all for exploring what we can get for him before the deadline.
trying to figure out whats going to happen two years from now let alone five is not how the current nba is set up....especially when you take into consideration that mitchell is in all likelihood a short-term rental.
barring any injuries the chances of a world-class guy like gilbert taking a shit second-rounder this year for levert is close to zero....1000/1...in fact...the chances of gilbert taking a flyer on mcdermott and his 14mm next year and a second rounder is probably close to a pik em.
levert aint going fukn nowhere because without him thats where the cavs are going this year...nowhere....and nowhere are you going to find a winner like dan gilbert doing stupid ass shit like throwing away year one of three because hes trying to get something inconsequential back for levert...he has caris for this year and that was the plan....there is not going to be any tit-for-tat trade(hardaway/levert)....and most certainly there is not going to be any downgrades.....gilbert is going to pull the trigger because thats what winner mentality does.
