What’s the point of making the playoffs when you’re gonna get smoked in the wild card game anyway? Let’s not act like there’s a huge difference between this team making the playoffs and a winning record and missing the playoffs.

What the fuck are you talking about? The difference is making the playoffs. It’s a milestone. Something this franchise hasn’t done in 18 fucking years. And once you’re in anything can happen. Bunch of participation trophy guys in here.

I mean. Neither you nor I know that they would get smoked.

In fact, they could get hot and make the Super Bowl from the Wild Card spot..

The fuck are you even talking about.
Statistically speaking, they would get smoked. Obviously outliers happen, but it’s pretty foolish to expect anything otherwise.

So you'd rather not have a shot?

There's so many instances where a 6 seed has gone to the super bowl in the last 10 years. Just a horrible point overall you're trying to push here.

Who fucking cares. Playoffs shouldn't even be talked about right now. This team cant beat anyone with a pulse. Milestones should be little things lile beating above .500 teams, Baker not playing abysmal, etc

Who said I would rather not have a shot? All I’m saying is there isn’t a big difference this year if we made the playoffs or not. Not with the personnel holes we have.

Just because 6 seeds make the super bowl occasionally, doesn’t make this a super bowl contending team. That much is obvious.

A 9-7 team with a first round playoff loss is something we haven’t had since 2002. We’d enter the off-season with decent cap space, a stable coaching situation, and a roster primed to compete. If you want to be a location of choice for free agents like KC or Baltimore despite being in a shit city for 25 year olds from Florida/Georgia/Texas, that’s how you get there. Not to mention the plethora of 3/4 rounders they’ve built up.

Will I be pissed if we make the playoffs only to get blown out by the Titans or Ravens? Yes, probably for a week, but if it‘s playoff experience for core guys like Denzel, Chubb, Myles, and Baker with reinforcements coming on defense, it’s a win. Stumbling to 7-9 or 8-8 is the scenario that can’t happen after starting 5-2.

They were 5-2 with a chance to go 6-2. Of course playoffs are going to be talked about. Especially against a team they’re likely going to be in contention with for one of the last playoff spots. And while you’re mostly right about how they play against good teams they did beat the Colts. And Baker didn’t play abysmal today. The defense did, his line did, and his receivers did.

For a franchise as historically bad as this one, I absolutely want to see this team in the playoffs when it’s in reach. I think it would be a huge boost mentally to a young team that has witnessed a lot of turmoil. You have one of the easiest schedules left in the NFL and are getting three big pieces back on a loaded offense, finish strong and whatever happens happens in the playoffs.

We’ve beat a scrappy Cincinnati team twice too. They’re not as bad as their record reflects.

I know.I wasnt saying he played abysmal, just saying those are the types of things I’m looking for. Playoffs would be great. I’m just not going to be freaking out if they miss them but still have a winning record.

Thats true. They just beat the Titans with ease today. And the Cowboys record is trash but we beat them with Dak, in Dallas. That win looks better than if they beat them with Dalton or whoever this random dude is starting tonight.

Offense looks non-threatening without OBJ. It’s going to be extremely rad to generate success in the passing game without finding a decent upgrade at WR this season. I don’t think DPJ had a single target. Higgins had 1 target and 1 catch and it was with 4 minutes left in the game.

Landry is not a #1 and he doesn’t have the speed to get over the top of the defense. We need a WR or it’s going to get very ugly for the passing offense.

I don’t live in Cleveland, but wasn’t the weather pretty bad up there? I’d be concerned if this happened in the Superdome, but it sounds like there was a conscious decision not to sling it today.

In a game where the coaching staff clearly game planned for the weather, complaining that they don't have enough "threats" on offense is strange, IMO.

You cannot have a "threatening" offense in 40 MPH winds.
